Am I right in thinking this is the first 3pm K.O we've had this season?

Ray Wilkins hits out at attitude of young players
Wimbledonblue replied to Stats's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Agree with everything apart from the David Luiz statement! I would say he is one of the most technically gifted players we have. And one with the biggest heart and desire. Just lacking a few brain cells is all! -
Forget the electric chair, just get Shearer to talk about zonal marking, that'll do it.
-
Yeah I noticed that. Pissed me off that did, especially as two of our goals were brilliant. MOTD is a farce these days. Last week for example, when Vertongen pulled his Tom Daley impression which subsequently lead to the Torres scratch saga. Danny 'shitforbrains' Murphy totally ignored Vertongen's blatant dive and then actually praised him for staying on his feet when Torres 'scratched' him. Hansen, Murphy (and any former bin dipper that regularly features on MOTD) cream themselves at the thought of Torres and Chelsea failing.

Michael Owen... forgot about him. Woeful pundit. Graeme Souness is another. As for commentators, Martin Tyler, Guy Mowbray and Steve Wilson are my favourites. As for Jon Champion...

Let's be honest, the world of football punditry is a bleak landscape predominantly populated by semi-intelligent ex-footballers who offer the same boring bile week in, week out. This increasingly dreary world is occasionally punctuated by the stupid, the annoying, the absurd or the arrogant opinions of certain Sky Sports / BBC pundits. However, on the rare occasion, a 'Rachel Riley' escapes from the plethora of 'Anne Widdecombes' in the world of football punditry an offers intelligent, insightful analysis and fair opinions. So, who are your favourite/ least favourite TV football pundits or personalities? I'll start: (Favourites) Gary Neville - The only Sky pundit who articulates well and offers interesting insightful opinions. He always roots for the English team and clearly has a passion for the game. His analysis is generally excellent, he is actually quite funny and has been a breath of fresh air for Sky. Pat Nevin - The only BBC pundit who talks sense. Simple. (Least Favourites) This list could go on and on and on. So I'll only name one: Garth Crooks - I find it hard to fathom that this arrogant wanker still has a job as a football pundit. I can remember being 8 years old watching Final Score and thinking, 'Mr Crooks, you're a tit.' And now, here we are 14 years later, watching Final Score and I'm still thinking, 'Mr Crooks, you're a tit.' I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him. Not that anyone could lift him.

Anyone else getting bored of this Lukaku loan saga? I have heard so many mixed reports about him asking to leave/ Jose asking him to leave etc. He is young, talented and undoubtedly part of our future. Just not this season. I'm getting tired of pundits lambasting Chelsea for letting him go. He scored against City (a goal which Lescott pulled a 'Lescott' and Hart should have saved) and yet, despite Everton losing and Chelsea winning, the only subject that Hansen and Co. could focus on was that of Chelsea's striker issues. I think it was stupid to let the kid go, but I trust Jose and that's that. Personally, I wouldn't care if Ivanovic ended up with more goals than Torres this season. If we keep on winning then who gives a shit?

Oscar is class. I hope we keep him for many years as he could become a sensation. Give it 2, possibly 3 years, and he will be the best player in the league.
-
I would call our 2nd half performance against Spurs 'quick, expansive football.' We have a team that are more than capable of doing so. Either you have a very short memory or know absolutely nothing about football. I'm going for the latter.
-
The terrifying thought of City at home eh? They lost their last away game to Villa. Also lost to Cardiff on the road. They were lucky to get a point at Stoke as well. Why are you scared of a team that has been absolutely shit away from the Etihad this season? Please, enlighten me.
-
Loud and clear for the last 10 minutes! Great support.
-
Well I've heard he's quite good at scoring goals... I don't think he is the world class player he once was and we need to improve in that area if we are to compete for another European title. But we just beat Norwich away from home, played OK and you only find the negatives. Drives me insane. Do you think Chelsea fans who were at the game are sat on the train home and finding negatives about the team? We won. Be happy.
-
Yawn. We won the European Cup two years ago with the same center mid partnership. Really embarrassing.
-
Really cannot understand these kind of posts. We won FFS. Oscar (the MOTM) was 'greedy as shit.' Can't you just be happy that we got 3 points away from home, and deserved it. We weren't great but we got the job done. Do one.
-
Bayern were epic. Even though Englands No. 1 could have prevented two of the goals, Bayern just look like they can score when they want. Lahm is an absolute beast. Brilliant footballer. Still, Mourinho definitely would have made a change early on if that was happening to us. Can't understand why Pelligrini didn't act earlier?
-
Good confidence building performance last night. Impressive stuff. Keep the same team maybe with Oscar given a rest and Willian replacing him. This is the start of a good run lads. I can feel it.
-
Disagree. We have a different style of play and of course an entirely different squad but if you compare the two seasons in terms of performances, the similarities are there to see. Wasn't it at this stage in the 2004 season when we drew two consecutive games 0 - 0? (One of which was against Spurs). The journalists started prowling, questioning our approach to games and highlighting Jose's inability to find a system that works. Well, he soon sorted that out and we all know the rest. You obviously have doubts about Mourinho's ability to figure out the right system. I have confidence in the man; he has inherited a hungry squad with a solid balance between youth and inexperience. Chelsea will click into gear soon and we'll start overrunning teams. I'm praying it happens tomorrow! But maybe I'm just overly optimistic. We'll wait and see.
-
A lot of people seem to be worried that we're not scoring many, and while it is a concern, I'm confident the goals will come. This season is following a similar pattern to when Jose first arrived in 2004, the only difference being we were scraping 1 - 0 victories (some were very lucky). After about 7 or 8 games everything clicked and we started destroying teams home and away. This season we haven't been so lucky, but keep the faith! The results and the performances will come soon enough hopefully starting tomorrow by ripping Spurs a new one. If we don't get the result that we wanted, don't panic. Good things will come. Jose is a winner and Chelsea are winners.
-
Good point. Everton didn't exactly park the bus but they hardly took risks going forward and we created a host of chances against them. Spurs at home will attack us leaving them susceptible to the counter. If we are clinical we could and should win. Is Rambo definetely out then?
-
Ahh I miss the days when this fixture was a guaranteed win. It is no longer 3 point lane unfortunately. I would start Torres and Mata for this but expect Jose to go with Eto'o, Hazard, Oscar and Schuurllleeeee. I'm expecting a bore draw.
-
Agree with this. And bear in mind Mata destroyed Spurs at 3 point Lane last year (albeit playing centrally). I think if Mata plays well tomorrow he's got a fair chance of starting against the Spuds.
-
Swindon are not to be underestimated but I'm confident their players will shit themselves at the prospect of facing Luiz, Mata and Torres who all need to impress to retain their place in the team. We will be too much for Swindon tomorrow, expect a comfortable victory and clean sheet. Swindon 0 - 4 Chelsea (Mikel hat trick, Mata)
-
How long is that then?
