At least now United are slightly more likely to let Rooney join us. It would be a different story if we trashed them 3:0.

Why did we not start Lukaku? Why did we keep on playing long balls without a target striker? Why did Lamps start this match? He kept passing it side ways and backwards despite having glaring obvious options in front of him. He kept giving the ball away which was tad annoying. We couldn't string 6 passes together?! Hazard was invisible in attack. We kept losing the ball through unforced errors. Our passing was so off for this game, we never turned up. Why was KDB taken off as soon as he started showing quality in the United half? And why was Torres the one to come on, not Lukaku? At least United didn't play their best either. In the end 0:0 seems like a fair result, but I'd be lying if I said I'm not disappointed with this game.

Can someone PLEASE tell Lamps that we're playing from left to right?!

So far, Hazard has been invisible in attack.

Jose officially said no bids until after the game.

Knee-jerk? You might change your mind as the season develops.

Good job mate, you got half of it right

What we really don't want is for one of our players to get a red card and get sent off, especially early on. History tells us this is a realistic possibility. Hope it doesn't happen.

Two hours till the game. One hour till the team sheets are out.

I'll remember to quote this if you're wrong

less than 3 hours left!

Would us decisively beating United tonight, mean we can say goodbye to them strengthening us even more by selling Rooney?
-
It's 3 and a half hours...getting my hopes up there lol

Anyone else notice the new addition to United's kits? The whole collar-button thing looks odd imo.

Decent points. Mata is a great character, and a role model too. I still think though that if United were to pay additional £10 million, a straight swap for Rooney wouldn't be a tragedy.

Mata is more likely to go to United in a straight swap for Rooney(with United perhaps adding £10 million cash), than him getting loaned anywhere. Our board are not stupid. You don't loan your twice in a row player of the year who's easily worth £45-£55 million if not more. Any type of loan is out of question.

It wouldn't be a tragedy. And it's realistic. Of course as a Chelsea fan, I don't want to see Mata in a United shirt, I don't want to see him score for them/celebrate with them, and I want him to stay as he's got every chance of becoming a club legend in the future. But at the same time I'm aware of the fact that for some reason Mazcar doesn't work the way it ought to, it's not about one player but about the overall good of the team, we really need Rooney, and we've got quite a few players who can excel in the number ten role. Our signing of Willian is a beautiful move, if a player swap were to indeed take place. It's realistic that the following could happen: 1. One or two days after the United game, we come in with a bid of £30 with add ons amounting to £35 million. 2. They reject the bid. 3. We improve the bid to £40 million and say they either take it or leave it. 4. They reject it and reiterate Rooney's not for sale this summer. 5. We're forced to go to our plan B, which is player swap. We offer them Willian(I know this is very unlikely) + money, say £10-15 million. 6. They reject flatly reject that. 7. We move to our last resort which is offering Mata in a straight swap, with them perhaps having to add £5-7 million, since Mata is more valuable than Rooney. 8. They accept the offer. An unlikely turn of events, yet realistic imho seeing the way things have been going so far. The signing of Willian doesn't look bizarre with that prospect in mind. I don't want to see Mata go, but I'd rather have this line up if the swap does take place: -------------------Rooney-------------- ----Hazard---Oscar/KDB-----Willian than this line up, if we keep Mata and let Rooney stay at United: -----------------Eto'o----------------- ---Hazard-----Mata---------Willian The second line up would also mean KDB and Oscar sitting on the bench far more, and Schurrle hardly ever getting any minutes. If we swap Mata for Rooney, all of a sudden there's a vacant space in the ACM role, and we've got a lethal striker in our front line.

KDB will stay. He's not going.

Jose said that Mata is not for sale, but he also said Rooney or bust a few weeks ago. I don't want Mata to go, or see him play in a United shirt, but the closer to the conclusion of the transfer window, the more the player swap which perhaps is not going to happen, becomes a relatively realistic prospect. With us making a weird, seemingly largely unnecessary signing, and then the very same day Moyes comes out and says that United could end up not buying anyone this season, a realistic option is that there could be a player swap between us and them indeed taking place. It's just like adding 2+2. They want a new signing, but will probably not end up buying. Their no.10 wants out, and wants to join us, we have a surplus of players who can play the no.10, and we want their no.10 while they have expressed interest in our no.10 before. If(probably won't happen, but if)a player swap were to take place, putting things into perspective, the signing of Willian is not a bad idea.

After one game against Aston Villa?
