From what I've heard from some MLS fans he played well last year. I think this is a good transfer because he is young and if he doesn't pay out we will loose less than 5 millions.

We have Kenneth Omerou who has won 31 caps playing for Nigeria and is a far more established centre-half who can't even make the subs bench at the Bridge.

Not to mention Andreas Christensen and Tomas Kalas who are also capped for their senior national teams and have playing experience at far tougher leagues.

So why the hell are we wasting our time with this no-mark MLS player from a championship-level league?

Btw, "Djilobodji role' should become the official name for signing for Chelsea, taking a photo with the jersey, wearing that jersey for 60 seconds in a cup match before being loaned out...You know, kinda like the 'Makalele role' only a lot shittier..  

When the team is crying out for an uplifting transfer, particularly in defense and yet  Emenalo & co came out with this Papy replacement. 

What further astounds me is that some deluded fans actually believe this is a good piece of business and are happy that we have filled in the bases for our so-called "stop-gaps".

Seems like signing no-marks for stop-gap reasons are a sure sign of success for some Chelsea fans versus gunning for the likes of Laporte, Marquinhos and Stones!

If he was a nailed on starter then he would not only play every game but he wouldn't come on from the bench. Now Matt starts every game, and I honestly don't think Lihue 1 is that much better than mls. If the bid for this dude was 12 and not 3 people would be more hyped.

If he was English everyone would be so exited that such a prospect comming to our side and hw would be worth 30 mil instead of 3. What if 2 of our Cb's gets injured we only left with Cahill so its good to have a cover.

If he was English, he would have proven it in the EPL instead of the MLS.  He's certainly not bought as cover but for the loan market.

The MLS is comparable to the English Championship.  They aren't a patch on any major league in Europe.  An experienced Nigerian international can't land a place on the bench at the Bridge hence there is no logical reason why this MLS fellow would be able to do so.

Now you're just clutching at straws. 45 starts in 64 matches shouldn't be overlooked and that amount is impressive especially when you consider Zouma was only 18-20 years old then. Miazga wasn't even starting consistently for NY Red Bulls till 2015, when he was 20.

Really? The competition in Ligue 1 might be weak but it still has better infrastructure, setup, managers and most certainly players. So many times over the years clubs have raided Ligue 1 for players and many of them have turned out to be good. How many clubs in the major leagues around Europe have actually bought players from the MLS?

The fucking state of it. You can sort of cross the Cuadrado one off as he is a decent player but clearly not cut out for PL football. We'll get most of the fee back for him. But the rest (Begovic the only exception), since Luis - laughable.
