LDN Blue 7,903
This one of the most disgusting things I've heard about in a while. Diego Garcia is an island on the Indian Ocean and is part of the Chagos Archipelag. In 1973 in a savage, cruel trick by Britain. The inhabitants of this peaceful island were forced off their land by a disgusting trick. Their pets were taken and killed using exhaust fumes from military vehicles. They were relocated to a horrible, run down area of the Mauritius. They had no electricity, water or even basic sanitary. Thousands died from deep poverty in this relocation. Many others died from depression, via suicide. Children died, women died, men died! The British government kept this one giant secret. They lied to everyone about the true events of Diego Garcia. They denied generations of people had lived there, they denied they coerced the people of that land to sell their rights. Into contracts written in English which they could not understand. For a mere £3,000 compensation. Which wasn't enough for basic needs!! Please people, please watch this documentary. This country and this world has lied to us for too long! This story made me sick to my core.

DYC. 7,542
We live in a sick and twisted world. There's so much more we don't know about...
Madmax 9,219
Such stuff doesn't surprise me anymore, and that is the saddest thing of all.I could say America are hypocrites, but that would be true for all governments in the world. Because power corrupts, no matter who you are, no matter how civil you were before you were powerful.
LDN Blue 7,903
Because power corrupts, no matter who you are, no matter how civil you were before you were powerful.Indeed Max!The worst part is, there's practically no information on the internet. This has been so well covered up that people have actually ceased to report it now. Only John Pilger has investigated it (the man in the video). Sickening. Not surprising though. BBC & Sky have a reputation of being xenophobes!

Milan 17,959
Seriously, where the hell are we living?? We all are human beings, we are the same and we are hurting other people so much. This story, this video gave me a frisson and almost brought a tear to my eye. If even young children die of sadness...horrible. Unbelievable. Unbelievably shocking.
LDN Blue 7,903
If even young children die of sadness...horrible. Unbelievable. Unbelievably shocking. That was the most horrible part.. The fact that they'd "died from sadness". This is the extent of psychological torture that was imposed on them by the British, the most worrying thing about this is, Diego Garcia is probably not the only island this has happened too :\
Wilson 358
Sorry, but what was the trick? I know I'm stupid lol.
LDN Blue 7,903
Sorry, but what was the trick? I know I'm stupid lol.Basically when they were reallocated they were in dire poverty. No electricity, clean water or sanitary of any kind.As a sick gesture of good will the UK government gave compensation of a mere £3,000 per person. Which is nothing. To claim this, however, they had to sign contracts. These contracts were written in English (which they can't even speak). The contracts stated the people signing would relinquish their rights to Diego Garcia. Meaning they could not return or claim it's their homeland. It was a cruel trick, that coerced them to signing away their rights for a little money for some clean water & food.
