When discussing Barcelona/Spain defenders we should keep in mind that defending for a team that consistently has >65% possession is a much easier task than what most defenders face. Therefore I think having Lucio/Samuel/Vidic/Terry over the Barcelona pair wouldn't be a bad idea.

Don't agree with Puyol easily being the best CB around. Thiago Silva, Vidic, Kompany and Carvalho (especially Thiago) are the defenders that have really shone this season. Puyol isn't the same anymore if you ask me. Don't rate his performances any higher than the likes of Piqué, Nesta and our own JT and Ivanovic.

Still a great defender though and still the defender with the biggest 'heart' out there.

Btw, 150 journalists, coaches and national team captains are the ones who make out the winner of Player of the Year and pick the Team of the Year.
