Nicolas Anelka makes his full debut in the only change from the side that beat Tottenham last time out.

That means Shaun Wright-Phillips continues in midfield from where he has scored in consecutive games while Juliano Belletti and Ashley Cole are again the chosen full-backs.

Birmingham are unchanged from the side that took a point at Arsenal. New signing James McFadden is on the bench alongside former Chelsea striker Mikael Forssell.

Chelsea are expected to line up in a 4-3-3 formation as follows:
