EskWeston 696
Chelsea have made it to the final of the Milk cup in the Juniors section which i believe is an U15's tournament. Big achievment for the lads and after seeing an interview the other day with Neil Bath it seems that winning cups at youth level is starting to become something of a habbit. Which just goes to show how far we have come as an academy. The team taken to the Milk Cup can be seen here:http://www.nimilkcup.org/?module=datalistdetail&itemid=50c61b4a-01d6-4030-860c-f1c09943c2bfOnly names there familiar to me are John Swift and Reece Mitchell although i am sure that Mitchell Beeney is a relation to youth goalkeeping coach Mark Beeney................... look out for some of these neames in the next few years. The results of the competition can be seen here:http://www.nimilkcup.org/?tabindex=23&tabid=3575They play Cruz Azul in the final, and Chelsea have made pretty light work of the tournament so far so fingers crossed they can win this one. chelsea blue 615
Chelsea sealed a 3-0 victory courtesy of an overhead kick by Mitchell before a fine effort from John Swift made it 2-0. Captain Swift then won a penalty which was tucked away by Lewis Baker (note: this is provisional information) to set off celebrations in the Blues camp, allowing Swift to collect the trophy and presumably take a Milk shower, as is tradition. A hearty and deserved congratulations go to the entire squad and coaching staff, and in particular Adie Viveash and Gerry Harvey, who are with the boys on the trip. Some of the squad featured in Under-18 pre-season action against Plymouth, and on recent evidence may be seen at higher levels ahead of time. Neil Bath said earlier in the week that the academy is still in the process of a 10-year development and improvement plan. After year six, things are going very well if silverware is anything to go by. Squad: 1. Mitchell Beeney, 2. Jonathan Muleba, 3. Alistair Gordon, 4. Jordan Houghton, 5. Samuel Bangura, 6. Ruben Loftus-Cheek, 7. Ismail Serema, 8. John Swift, 9. Reece Mitchell, 10. Lewis Baker, 11. George Cole, 12. Walter Figueira, 13. Ben Killip, 14. Joel Tamina, 15. Jess Starkey, 16. Fankaty Dabo, 17. Ambrose Gnahore, 18. Reiss Awuah Results:3-0 vs South Coast Bayern (Loftus-Cheek x2, Seremba) 7-0 vs Co. Armagh (Baker 'pen, Loftus-Cheek x2, Mitchell, Seremba, Figueira x2)1-0 vs Co. Tyrone (Mitchell) 4-0 vs Dundalk 93 (Gordon, Cole x2, Mitchell)3-0 vs Cruz Azul (Mitchell, Swift, Baker 'pen)Well done Blues

Kostas 1,468
I don't want to downplay our victory but beating those sides isn't noteworthy,I'd be more impressed if we had won a tournament with the Arsenal and Ajax academy participating. And who is to say we are not winning tournaments with those types of teams in. Neil Bath has said that Chelsea teams at various levels are now winning a number of trophies across different competitions. Just because we don't read about it doesn't mean it does not happen..It just so happens that the Milk Cup is a high profile competition. EskWeston 696
John Swift played really wellLooks a good player with real talent. As does Reece Mitchell. Look forward to seeing them come through. Swift has already played for the U18's so i would expect him to play a bit this season.
Alee. 182
On Friday, Chelsea picked up their first ever Milk Cup trophy in the events Junior Section – happening in Northern Ireland. The Boys from Stamford Bridge beat Mexican side Cruz Azul 3-0, after goals from Reece Mitchel ,John Swift and Lewis Baker. The win capped a wonderful run throughout the prestigious youth competition.Chelsea got the perfect start when Mitchell’s stunning goal coming in the third minute off a cross from John Swift opened the scoring for Chelsea. The cross coming in the from the right was met with a sweet bicycle kick by mitchell, who scored his fourth goal of the tournament. Just before Half Time, Swift doubled the score for Chelsea by letting fly from 25 yards, which nestled into the back of the net. In the second half, Azul Cruz started to regain a bit control, but Chelsea were able to soak up any pressure they applied, and ended the match with third goal through Baker’s penalty to claim a victory which was never really in doubt.Head Coach Adrian Viveash said: “It’s been a tremendous week, on and off the pitch, we’ve loved being in Ireland. “This is a new group we’ve brought and they are worthy of the Milk Cup, this competition and its history – we’re delighted that they’ve won.” Goalscorer Reece Mitchell added: “It’s a great experience for us, we came here to win and that’s what we’ve done.“Hard work is the key to what we’ve achieved and we had goals to no concede and thankfully we’ve been able to do that.”Share/Bookmarkhttp://chelseadaily....p-the-milk-cup/ Edited August 1, 2010 by Alee.
