Questioning and execution

Balthasar was imprisoned and made a long written statement about his motives at his own request. He was interrogated the same day, but did not let go of much. The aldermen decided to carry out torture , an at the time not uncommon "interrogation method". The first night in prison, Balthasar was beaten with rods . Balthasar was tried on July 13. The court was of the opinion that he should be punished for copying everyone else's sigh righoreuselycken . They sentenced the murderer to an extremely cruel punishment, even for sixteenth-century standards. He was to be led to the scaffold the next day.
