Also what the fuck has Duncan 'Polar Bear' Fletcher ever done since becoming a coach? I mean, seriously!! We look like playing without any Gameplan, nothing. Go out there, roll your arm over, see if you get a wicket and then come back and go to a spa!! Send him back to North pole and bring someone new!!

coaches can hardly influence the game in cricket. we need a reshuffle actually. the players in the team seem to think they are untouchable and that their place in the squad is a given.

No, I don't think so. It's kind of a myth that Coaches don't play a big part in Cricket, Yes, they are not as vocal or as in media as Football but they do provide the cutting edge. Gary did it, John Wright did it along with Ganguly. Look at Andy doing it with the English. A good coach is essential in cricket.

they have limited input in strategy but it all comes down to dhoni and the bigwigs .. the senior players are above any coach in india

The fact that I was disappointed when Cook was dismissed in a bizarre fashion and missed out on a wonderful double ton tells me how little I expected from the home team...I was supposed to attend the match today, just didn't see a point in taking the trouble and stayed away...

http://youtu.be/JBBysqqdTv0

Apparently Yuvraj, Harbhajan and Zaheer are not being considered for the final test...if only Pujara hadn't dropped Cook on 17 on the 2nd day, things could have been sooooo different...

Nonetheless congratulations to England once again, hope the Barmy army enjoyed their stay at Kolkata...

Ppl saying Dhoni out sound like Arsenal fans saying Wenger out. There isn't anyone else who can lead the side. Simple as. Hot-head Kohli? Nope.

Andhon mein kaana raja? LOL.

Why not Kohli? Aggression isn't a bad thing. Gambhir and Sehwag are viable alternatives.

Gambhir and Sehwag aren't guaranteed a place in the test side. not like dhoni has cemented his place but dhoni was a good captain and i don't think his captaincy has gone wrong. the team has shutdown. everyone seems to think it's their god-given right to play test cricket for india.

yuvraj, zaheer, ishant, gambhir, sachin have done absolutely nothing in this series and that's 3 separate matches with 6 innings we are talking about. people saying Sachin hit a 76 and Gambhir hit a 60 should see other teams where 60 and 76 are not exaggerated to be high scores. need people who stay in the crease and work out an innings. dhoni can't be blamed if the batsmen were high and gave away their wickets.

i don't blame the bowling much though. they've always been shit. now even the spinners are not exerting pressure

edit:As for Kohli - one dropped catch and he'll go -"Teri Maa ki......"

There is such a thing as leading by example, made all the more painfully obvious when Cook has absolutely annihilated us all series long. Dhoni isn't fit to lace his boots at the moment.

You've got to change things when they don't work and we've been simply trudging along under Dhoni since the WC win. Looks past his sell by date to me.

who would you make captain?

also, the selectors want him out. all 5 selectors actually. they submitted the team for the One-Dayers with 17 names in it but did not name a captain. ofcourse, Dhoni is all zipped up with the board with Srinivasan and all but Mohinder Amarnath in an interview with CNN-IBN was saying that the selectors wanted to sack Dhoni after the Aussie 4-0 debacle

Kohli. He commands respect with his performances and isn't afraid to make himself heard. Has a good rapport with the senior guys without the dour personality that'd make him subservient to them.

I wonder how much of Amarnath's recent sound bytes are down to him being passed for Head of Selection Committee. Wasn't too vocal after Ahmedabad but the prospect of a series loss at home has him firing away.

I don't think Kohli needs the pressure of the captaincy to be honest. He's on his way to becoming India's next superstar and just as Sachin did, he should avoid the captaincy so he can continue to be the batsman that India needs him to be.

As for the actual captaincy issue, Dhoni should definitely keep that role.

now is not the time. crucial series' coming up. Let Dhoni continue against Australia and Pakistan. judge him after that.

india need to bounce back from this slump. batsmen stuttering, bowlers crumbling. overall disaster from the team

I'm not sure Kohli is the type to be fazed or burdened by captaincy; he strikes me as a guy who'd cherish it. He's captained India at youth level before, for one thing. Also takes up the role for his IPL team on occasion.

Sachin's captaincy reign was a whole different issue - he had no other capable players around him during those years (Ganguly and Dravid only arrived on the scene in '96, Laxman even later), he'd never been a captain before and didn't look particularly up for it. The board decided to make our best player the captain and he was too nice to reject that.
