Meanwhile, the position regarding Hiddink's successor became a little murkier when Carlo Ancelotti flatly denied the ongoing reports that he will be the next Chelsea manager.

Hiddink will leave at the end of the season to return to his role as manager of Russia as he attempts to lead them to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The AC Milan boss said: "I will stay at AC Milan - I advise you to bet on it!"

Appearing somewhat bitter about a previous meeting with Chelsea about the role, he added: "Last season I spoke with Abramovich and then they did not do anything. From that day Abramovich has broken links."
