Kenyon: Scolari in tune with vision

Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon claims Luiz Felipe Scolari is fully supportive of the long-term plan at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have been knocked off their perch as the world’s richest club and Kenyon feels it is a burden they are happy to shed.

Kenyon has made it clear that Chelsea’s aim is to be self sufficient rather than reliant on the millions of Roman Abramovich, but the lack of spending power has seemingly frustrated Scolari.

The Brazilian is unlikely to dip his toe in the market this January, but Kenyon claims it is a policy Scolari is comfortable with.

”We are delighted not to be the richest club any more and other clubs may spend more without having as much success on the pitch,” said Kenyon. “This would dispel the idea that we have just bought our titles.

“We have taken sound financial decisions recently regarding trimming costs. We are not generally in the market for players at present as the best players are not usually available mid-season and it takes new players time to adapt.

”He (Scolari) has said consistently that he doesn't want random replacements if we can't get the players he identified.

“We have a long-term plan with him and will build on what we have achieved so far. We are in great shape and the best thing we can do is win trophies and be self-sufficient.”

1. Not his fault Real Madrid acted like a jerk over the deal.

2. Not his fault Man City bid higher than us. At the last minute, too.

3. Not his fault Scolari didn't have a number 2 or 3 choices.

Plus, it's giving Stoch a few chances.

1, Real Madrid acted like a jerk after they were tipped of about the top being on sale in the megastore.

2, If number one had not happenned, number 2 would not of either.

3, Scolari had 2 choices and Robinho was one of them and Deco was the other. 'monobrow' was probably a Scolari buy but thats hush, hush.

Plus, he always said he was going to play the kids.

You obviously completely missed the point Linda was making on this one.

Scolari always chose Bosingwa and Deco, yes. But he didn't appear to have any other options instead of Robinho, which was what she was talking about.

Probably because the Robinho deal was almost done before he decided to put the shirt on sale.

Scolari obviously thought like us all on here that he was on his way.

You cant blame Scolari because he knew who he wanted to compliment the team and almost got them all, until the bald manc karnt farked up. And by the time we were 'guzzumped' the window had closed...

Admittedly Real were playing hardball, and trying to get as much as they could for the player but what I'm saying is if he hadn't got so cocky he would be wearing Royal Blue rather than sky Blue.
