.Cee 50
Plus points to take from the game: A perfect response from the Blues.Lampard's 100th career top flight goal.Cech's 100th Chelsea clean sheet!Anelka scoring a hat-trick - he is now joint top scorer with Amr Zaki with eight goals.Alex on the scoresheet - fantastic to see a defender in that position!Lampard continuing his stunning form.Clean sheet - Cech, Mikel, Terry and Alex were quietly brilliant today.1004 Premier League goals for Chelsea Malouda, Joe Cole and Deco - all fabulous.Mineiro with a sound debut today.Arsenal lost 2-1 Add: - Liverpool lost 2-1 - The goal difference with Man Utd, Liverpool & Arsenal to the list. :D Nice easy win today. I was a bit disheartened to see Anelka grab a really terrible hattrick. I hope Scolari isn't fooled into thinking he's any good. Why not? 8 goals in 11 matches is good. If he keeps it up, he might just get 20+ goals this season. Goals were mostly tap ins... Does it matter?
Jon 18
Having a goal difference of +23 is AMAZING!
Elliott 7
Why not? 8 goals in 11 matches is good. If he keeps it up, he might just get 20+ goals this season. What we need from our forward is not just goals when we're already comfortably winning, which is all he does, but goals when we're struggling, when we need someone to step up and change the game. Anelka won't do that, but Drogba has the ability and the strength to do so. That's the difference. Anelka can score all the dodgy hattricks he likes, until he starts scoring goals against the other top teams and when we're struggling, he'll always be second rate to me. Yeah, well, if we're struggling then the blame shouldn't just lie on him. He's a striker, his main job is to score goals, not create chances. Yet those dodgy hat-tricks will make a difference on our goal difference with the other clubs. Especially if the title race went down to the wire like last season. I hope he'll be able to keep it up over the season and get around 25 goals.

At the end of the day, strikers are judged on their goals scored. If Anelka nets 20 + this season, it would be impossible to deny that he has had a top season - if all his goals are tap ins then we can be thankful we have a forward with fantastic instincts. Elliott 7
And bemoan the fact that we finished 3rd and only got to the Quarter Finals of the Champions League because we didn't have a striker capable of scoring goals against the best defences. BlueLion. 21,491
You're just being nasty, now Well that works two ways - we can rest Drogba against the likes of Bolton, let Anelka grab a couple and everyone is happy.
Elliott 7
I just think I'm being realistic really. None of Anelka's goals have been important this season and that's the start and end of it.
BlueLion. 21,491
I disagree, his goal against Stoke won us the game, effectively, and many of his goals have put us in the comfort zone that have gone on to allow us to express ourselves. warnie_666 1,081
When we talk about Tap ins the first name and the only name that comes to my mind is Ruud Van Nistelrooy. I havent once seen him score a goal that woulld put a hole in the back of the net. Striker is all about being at the right place at the right time. But I do agree with Elliot, he doesnt have the same "fear striking" ability as Drogba. Anelka has been virtually zero against Liverpool and Manchester United. He missed a sitter against the mancs. Drogba would have owned the defenses of Liverpool, Anelka is far from doing anything like that. But he toys around with ordinary teams..... I would still be tempted to put Drogba in agaisnt the top 5-6 teams.

I think he's more of a tap-in player so if he doesn't get enough service, he'd find it hard to score. Our midfield sucked against Liverpool and he was told to stay up front by Big Felipe. In an interview given to Chelsea Plus, Anelka says : "Normally, I like to come and take the ball, touch the ball and score from outside of the box, but the manager asked me to stay up front, to be very patient, because we have a lot of midfield players, so I'm not allowed to come to the ball anymore."
