The squad for next season

With no players yet leaving the club this summer it is clear that Scolari wants to meet up with the whole squad before decided/informing who will be leaving this summer. We at the moment have quite a large squad:

Keepers:

Cech, Cudicini, Hilario

Defenders:

Bosingwa, Ferreira, Belletti, A.Cole, Bridge, Terry, Carvalho, Alex, Ben Haim, Ivanovic, Alcides

Midfielders:

Lampard, Ballack, Essien, Mikel, Makelele, Deco, Sidwell

Wingers:

J.Cole, Kalou, Malouda, Wright-Phillips

Strikers:

Drogba, Shevchenko, Anelka, Pizarro

Clearly at the moment our squad needs some trimming, and also some more fresh blood. So there are quite a few futures still in the balance. With 2 new players already named for the new season there is most certainly still a LOT of movement due withing this squad both in and out.

Pre Season training starts on the 7th, the first Pre Season game is on 23rd and i am not sure when they will actually fly out. The majority of activity will want to be done before they jet off for the pre season games i would have thought.

What are your thoughts on the movement within this squad for next season?

Goalkeepers should stay the same, we have no problems there.

We definantly need to get rid of some right backs, keeping Boswinga and Belletti or Boswinga and Ferreira.

Left backs are solid,

Hoping that Carvalho stays we then have JT & Riccy with Alex & Ivanovic as cover. If Carvalho does leave i believe Alex is strong enough to make that position his own.

The Midfield is strong enough to me with hopefully just Sidwell leaving.

Get rid of Malouda and Wright-phillips and bring in someone like Quaresma in.

& get rid of a couple of strikers and bring in one who can do the job cant think of any off the top of my head

Something along those lines is more than likely accurate. Can't see Ben Haim, Sidwell or Pizarro staying. We don't need to replace Sidwell or Ben Haim because we already have enough bodies there.

A minimum of one winger will most certainly leave and probably 2 to make way for some new players to have a go.

There definately needs to be some invention and creativity injected into this squad. We have started on that with Deco and hopefully we can add a couple more that too.
