I know this may be kinda premature but is the finest defender of the recent Chelsea years in (a sharp) decline?

He was never the most pacy defender(except when he was playing alongside Desaily) but he's still in his late 20s and looks like he lacks the needed pace and agility against top sides.Even in his prime his positioning wasn't the best in the world but his mentality and teamwork made up for that and made him a world class defender.

We shouldn't take the England games in consideration but he hasn't been the defender he was 2 years ago for quite some time now,last year we could lay the blame on the whole Bridge thing and this year on the lack of fitness but I'm trying to look at the whole picture.

On the bright side he's got bags of experience now and will use it if he's concentrated enough.I've been arguing for quite some time now that he need a pacy and fresher defender next to him and his partnership with Alex doesn't convince me as being world class because neither of them is quick.Hopefully Ivanovic will be what he needs but he's not as good as Carvalho was in his prime.

He has been world class so far,hasn't set a foot wrong and looked as concentrated and determined as back in the Mourinho days.Clearly he hasn't played against the best of the best yet (CL) but I'm confident he won't fail us.

I think he always had that, just that he does it more often these days because he knows there'll be lots of people making those runs for him. Case in point : Ashley Cole goal vs Sunderland at the Bridge last season. I love JT's grace on the ball. His touch is so unlike a centre-half. Guess he retains some of the stuff from when he started out as a midfielder.

West Midlands Police confirmed that officers had decided to take no further action after viewing television footage of the incident during Chelsea's midweek match at Wolves.

A police spokeswoman confirmed that a complaint of assault had been made by Wolves steward Patrick Steadman following Chelsea's 1-0 defeat at Molineux on Wednesday.

I can't imagine that i will love some player as i love JT,he just shows in his games in his desire to do well that he is truly a Chelsea man.I don't think any money can repay him for his efforts for this club and the fans must never take for granted his heart which he leaves on the pitch every game.

John Terry is winning his battle against the needle.

The Chelsea captain has not needed injections to help him through ­matches for the last six weeks.

That is a big breakthrough for the 30 year-old centre-back, who is famed for his bravery and combative style.

Only in November, it emerged that Terry had received an epidural injection to enable him to play, but a ­persistent thigh and back problem still left him in considerable ­discomfort.

So the breakthrough is a massive boost, says Tony Adams, in his own day captain of club and country.

Adams realised he could not rely on painkillers to get him through ­Arsenal games and decided to deal with the core problem. He opted to take no more anti-inflammatory tablets or injections in his last two seasons at Highbury.

"Would I fear for John Terry if he kept having injections? Yes, I would," said Adams now a coach in ­Azerbaijan.

"I would fear for any player who had to keep doing that. The long-term effects of doing that are bad.

"Those methods do not cure the problem, they mask it. There is never any improvement. I was at my worst probably in 1996.

"I had a jab before the European Championship semi-final against Germany, another at half-time and then ­before extra-time – and then again at half-time in extra-time."

Maybe it's more than ­coincidence that Adams was a few months short of his 30th birthday when he did everything to stay out on the Wembley pitch for England.

He had reached a personal crossroads. Terry did the same a few weeks before he reached 30 last December.

Adams went on: "What doesn't help people like John Terry these days is the surface of the new pitches.

"They are much harder, much firmer now. Every time they jump there is a danger of a bad jolt when they land.

"I had a youth player at my current team who was being injected before every game – until I found out.

"I stopped it straight away and told him to rest until it was better. It took five weeks, but he is fine now. John Terry is a fantastic character, the type of person you want alongside you in a battle on the pitch.

"He will do anything to play. But sometimes things have to be more long-term."

Terry went to Italy to consult a ­specialist over his injuries. At the time the Chelsea skipper explained: "After games I was in agony and not sleeping at all. It was at a point where I couldn't carry on with it.

"I used to be in pain seven out of 10 games. Now it is 10 out of 10. An epidural works in 75 per cent of cases. Unfortunately I am in the other 25 per cent."

Terry returned to action early last month. He has been surviving ­without any kind of injected ­pain-killers. That will be a ­massive ­relief to club manager Carlo Ancelotti and England boss Fabio Capello.

Chelsea are battling through an indifferent patch of form and Terry, a doubt for tomorrow's game at Bolton because of a back injury, has been ­instrumental in helping them recover from a ­nightmare sequence of results.

Capello has a friendly in ­Denmark on February 9 to prepare for the Euro 2012 qualifier in Wales in March and wants his strongest squad available.
