Kentucky derby - short price favourite

Churchil Downs, Sat May 3 11.24 UK time, 1m 2f, 21 run

California Chrome is the clear favourite, priced 2/1 in a field of 21.

Video below tells the story of the horse:

UK racing websites are not covering the Churchil Downs meeting all that much, but the Racing post features cards for three of the meeting's races. Racing Post acknowldedges California Chrome's superior speed figures but expresses some concern about his ability to handle the distance-track and goes for Danza. California Chrome is the no 5 in the race and Danza is the no 4.

California Chrome fails to make triple crown history in America.

Tonalsit won the Belmont Stakes so everyone is sad.

The race video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SflE7wkKjEo

America's favourite California Chrome finished 1 1/2 lengths behind the winner Tonalist.
His jockey Victor Espinoza made a fine effort. Tracked leaders in 3d-4th place and produced him at the bend in a good position for the final run in - but the finishing power was n't there.

The pessimists who were saying California Chrome is no stayer and not good enough for the distance of 2400 meters in the curvy Belmont track proved right.
So Belmont dashes the hopes of yet another triple crown candidate, after War Emblem, Funny Cide and others.

* The video shows he takes the last turn from four horses wide.
He was displaced a little - would have like it closer to the inner.

But it's certain he did not have the strong finish required.
