Father confesses to Austrian dungeon horrors

A 73-year-old Austrian man confesses to holding his daughter captive in his home cellar for nearly 24 years and fathering seven children by her, police say. The woman is described as "very disturbed" and having trouble talking about her ordeal. She went missing in 1984, when she was 18, police said.

Austrian police spokesman Franz Polzer told CNN, the man, known as Mr. F., admitted holding his daughter hostage in a windowless cell in the basement of his home for more than two decades.

Mr. F. told police that one of the children he fathered with his daughter Elisabeth F. was a twin who died.

Mr. F. also admitted he burned the body of the dead child in an oven, according to Polzer.

I was really sick reading this news. Genuinely sick in my stomach. It may not be appropriate to talk about, but we have the right to know what's going on in the world.

What may lead a human being doing something like that to another human being. From what comes such anger, from what comes such violence ? What can possibly trigger such a move, which completely destroys another person - in this case his own daughter, his own child, his own flesh and blood.

It makes you wonder.

He should be deported to Thailand and tried there. I disagree with foreign legal systems on many accounts, but this guy deserves it. Not even a Livscum fan would do such a thing.

I can imagine that there have been dozens of similar incidents in the past which haven't been revealed. I think that even at this point there is someone in a cellar, a hostage... It's crazy to think about it, but maybe someone at this current moment is crying for help.
