Cyprus Haircut

I think it's a great idea as long as their is a minimum tax-free amount. Cyprus is a tax haven for all sorts. What I'd really like to see is a global tax treaty that makes these sorts of off-shore accounts impossible. It won't happen but it'd get billions in taxes for a number of countries.

Well, since Russians have between 12-35 billions there, no one even know how much, tomorrow Cyprus minister is flying to Russia to restructure their loan. Russians are not dumb enough to allow some dimwit from Brussels to tax their billions.

By the way, Cyprus is so entwined with Russia, some say it´s like another republic of Russia.

wtf ru serious? Cyprus loves Greece! U will find more Greek flags in Cyprus then u'll find Cyprus flags.

Another country going to shit thanks to corporatocratic greed, sad.

Cyprus could be finished in a few months guyz. The banks r all closed. This law wasn't passed. Cyprus won't get bailout from anyone since to the rest of the EU it's pretty unimportant. Cyprus loves Greece and this law applies on everyone in Cyprus (except Greeks) so Cypriots would have had to give their share but no the Greeks.

Cyprus' decision to join the EU is backfiring. The banks here will be finished in a few months. The opening of the banks is being delayed every week. People r withdrawing cash every single day and when the banks open (god knows when) ppl will just take all their money.

Cyprus might run out of Euros so it could fall out of the Eurozone and it would go back the Cypriot Pounds.

Every Cypriot's nightmares has become reality. This country is pretty much finished. They refused to accept the Troika's condition without really having a Plan B. Cyprus' only hope is that Russia saves it.

U were saying Cyprus is a 2nd Russia I'm just saying it isn't. They love Greece like mad here. Russia just have loads of black money here. Cypriots just like Russia not love them like mad.

As well as Russia some corrupt ppl keep their black money here

i posted it as Cyprus being part of Russia cos so much money are in Cyprus banks. That´ s the fact. Russians even gave you a loan before. Now, you are asking for restructuring it. Putin was already contacted.

Cyprus chose to hide dubious money. EU does not like it. Therefore, conditions on the loan were applied. Everyone is waiting what´s gonna happen. Your government chose not to tax deposited money in your banks. Fine. No tax = no loan.

What´s the alternative for Cyprus ? Russia & Russia only. Otherwise, within a week Cyprus is bankrupted.

Ik the EU doesn't want Russian money here.

People aren't even buying things from supermarkets only necessities. The roads r empty because no one's at work. I have never seen Cyprus like this. It's such a scary experience.

Russia have rejected Cyprus' bailout plea. So Cyprus' only hope is surviving has been killed.

Talks are apparently still going on but nothing seems likely.

So no help from Troika or Russia....

(The bailout plea was for 5 billion on top of the already existing 2.5 billion given at an extremely low interest rate)

Many EU countries were asking to reveal the source, companies that deposited money in Cyprus.

Your government refused. Now, why should EU´s money support laundering schemes ?

Man I have told U many times. Just look at my profile that I am not Cypriot. It's not my government! Seriously man I am not Cypriot. I know the EU wants to know what goes on here since they don't want Russian Money laundering here. I have told u I am not Cypriot! U can see it on my profile

There is no one to blame but Cyprus politicians who allowed to reach this level.

As I said, an offshore heaven for hiding money, nothing more, nothing less.

ik lol it's a small country with no industry and the ppl r really unintelligent. Cyprus never had industry so to obtain a higher standard of living they did money laundering here. Cyprus relies on its banking sector. Did u know that Cyprus even though it barely has an economy gave like 5 billion to Greece because they love them. Their decision to join the EU is backfiring. They gave money to Greece and their crazed fanaticism for a country that doesn't care about them is not doing them any good (Greece doesn't care about Cyprus). Cyprus joined the EU to gain a lifestyle like the major European countries but it ended up backfiring on them and destroying their country, but the killer punch was giving pretty much what their economy is worth to Greece and u know who Cypriots blame for all this?

Germany not Greece. Their own ppl r not ready to pay money from their savings for the country but they expect Germany to give their hard earned money to them without any conditions!

OK sorry, now I know. You are just enjoying the sun there ?

No my dad works here.
