lewh3 2
It is something I am seriously looking into, so I was hoping that I might get some advice from anyone that has already done the course. Thanks in advance.
Liquidator 5,176
My brother did it just last week actually. It was over 2 weekends (Saturday and Sunday). It basically involved a bit of first aid, being tested on how you coach an exercise (which is apparently near impossible to fail) and safeguarding children etc.
lewh3 2
That sounds promising! Had he done any kind of experience prior to the course? Thanks!
Liquidator 5,176
That sounds promising! Had he done any kind of experience prior to the course? Thanks! He is a goalkeeper for an adults Saturday team but never did any coaching before the course. He isn't that great at football either, its more focussed on how well you can coach players than play.
OneMoSalah 8,886
I would be interested in doing something similar tbh, maybe just down at Largs but instad of the FA tests the UEFA ones. Does anyone else know anything about these? Like how much are they, as I'd imagine they would be at least 200 quid.
lewh3 2
That's good news, i'm not the best of footballers either!I think I saw that the FA coaching level 1 is around the £100 mark. Not too sure about the Uefa courses, if you find out though, let me know please!
dave30 728
I've done it mate and it really is easy and reasonably enjoyable especially if you know others doing it. I did an hour a week at my college for like 10 weeks and it involved filling out a book for which you were basically told the answers, doing a safeguarding children activity which again is very easy and a hour or so first aid course. You then run a 5/6 minute footballing exercise with a game at the end to a small group. The only thing is you do need to have completed a considerable amount of sports coaching which luckily i have done to log on to your personal fa profile but if you haven't you'll just be made to do it as part of the course i think its like 20 hours or something. And you don't have to be good at football whatsoever there were even girls who did it
Liquidator 5,176
Im not entirely sure but I think UEFA B and A coaching badges are really, really expensive (like £1000) and you can only do them once you have done level 3 FA Coaching (not 100% on that though)

Liquidator 5,176
My brother didn't have to do other sports coaching dave? He just did the course but he does not do any paid official coaching at the moment so that might be why (this is for FA coaching isn't it?) OneMoSalah 8,886
I have to be honest, if I get a substantial amount of money over the next 2 or 3 years then UEFA coaching badges is defos on the cards. Also Dave, were the girls hot? Its a investment though to be honest mate if your going for a weekend/summer job coaching and you present a level 1 they'll know you have first aid, child safeguarding and coaching experience. And you don't get much hotter than girls in football shirts
lewh3 2
Out of interest Dave, have you considered Level 2? and if you don't mind me asking, have you started coaching at all?Cheers mate
