It's every team's to find a striker who just never stops scoring.It seems we have had so many hopes dashed.

Since the days we had Dixon ,Speedie and Durie so many strikers have arrived and very few have lived up to

expectations. The most notable exceptions are IMO ,,Vialli , Hughes, Eidur ,Jimmy and Didier.

on the debit side Casirhagi...blighted by injury ....Sutton ...Crespo ...unhappy wife ...Sheva ....Pizarro...Kezman......

Then consider the young hopefuls ,,, Forsell , Cole , Di Santo ,,Borini....

Perhaps it is the failure of any of the young ones to break through here which is the saddest aspect.

we must just hope Danny and Lukaku provide the goals we will need in the future

I never thought that Pizzaro or Kezman were meant to be truly world class strikers or grow to become them. Pizzaro was just one of the set of rubbish buys that came in 2007 along with Sidwell and Ben-Haim. I thought he would just be a squad player but he wasn't even that a lot of the time. Completely useless!

Kezman on the other hand looked like he tried. He was a good player but would never be great and its a shame that he never lived up to his potential.

I just don't understand what is with us & strikers. They seem to flop more than they do well.

Sturridge is a new breed of striker for us, young & English with a lot of potential he wasn't a big name when we bought him but he's fast growing into a world class player. Our nightmare strikers seem to be the ones already established & us shedding out millions for.

Hope we can grow our own strikers in Sturridge & Lukaku

I don't know much about the team before Mourinho, but maybe one of the reasons many of our strikers failed is because of our 4-3-3 system? The lone forward in our system has a lot more to do than the strikers in a 4-4-2, and I think a lot of the strikers who failed weren't versatile enough to fill that role. As far as I'm concerned, Drogba's the only player who can score, win air duels, hold up the ball, make runs, make assists, press for the ball, and do a lot more, which is probably why he's been so successful.

That's a bit harsh on Pizarro. You don't become the Bundesliga's top scorer unless you're a great striker. He's not doing too bad this season either, already has 12 goals for Bremen.

Thought Crespo was one of the best -but getting him in the twighlight of his career was a blow.

Another great imo Tore Andre Flo -oh, and a certain Jimmy Greaves.

Best striker in Chelseas history though is Drogba
