I was wondering if there is an guide around about how to post a picture in your signature

Then put in the URL of the image, press ok and that's it

The tool (3rd picture, Super-Frank's post) is for pasting the pure URL from a picture. When you see a picture somewhere, right click on it, then click VIEW IMAGE and then you can copy the URL which you paste in that tool. You can also click COPY PICTURE instead of VIEW IMAGE and then paste it also in that tool.

The error you got was because you pasted the code from imageshack that contains the uploaded with imageshack part that redirects you to their site. Using links in your signature is forbidden to members so that's why you got the error.

Do what I told you in the first sentence and it should be fine
