European Superleague

It is possible?

I was on twitter when Barcelona was playing against Villareal and some experts of ESPN was saying the football is going to convert in a European Superleague, with the top european teams.

How can it be? I has been reading some concepts about it. First of all, eliminate the Champions and the Europe League, the superleague would be the unique championship beetween europeans, but the thing is, how qualify for that league? how about the weakers leagues? Because when i was reading about it, people only was mentioning the top teams of the Premier, Spanish, Italian, Erevidise and French league. What about the scottish, greek, turkish leagues?

I cannot lie, the idea of see top matches all the time is just exciting, but what parameters can we use yo decide what teams play the superleague?

Sorry for my english btw.

Yeah i said this in the liga thread when Barcelona was playing. Of how Barca and Real are class above the other teams, and should form a super league with other top teams.

It would be more fun to see Real, Barca, Chelsea, United, City, Bayern, Milan etc etc in one league fighting it together. Then seeing one league that is dominated by two or three teams all the time.

Would beat the CL, cause the CL sometimes rely on luck. A long league, is won by the best. A full league of the best 20 teams in Europe would be great.

However, the concept to implement seems difficult. Whoever comes up with it, if ever, must be a good organizer.

Wasn't this one of Wenger's ideas along with eliminating throw-ins from football because Arsenal can't cope with Delap?

Anyways, I hate the idea. It just encourages polarization, and I can't see how it will work. And this isn't baseball. It's gonna get pretty boring if we start playing United 4-6 times every year.

It is possible?

To be possible, yes it is possible. Though, I believe this league will be created under only one condition/circumstance : if Platini tries to fuck with the big clubs, ie if the Financial Fair Play and the other things he might do are too much a pain in the ass for those clubs. I mean, I do not think that one of the current top team would accept to be disqualified from the UCL, or just even be handicaped by the FFF. So, if too much big teams are bothered with UEFA's financial laws, then this super league might be created.

Otherwise, I do not think that clubs are interested. Indeed, I do think they rather play in a two/three horses race league and win trophies than to play in a super league and win once in a while. Who the hell would like to play in the same league that Barça

Would hate this to happen! Football fans live for the big games! Having them week in week out would kill that excitement and importance of a 'big game'. The idea on paper of playing the likes of Barca,Inter,Bayern and United all the time, but wouldn't you miss the PROPER matches like a rainy away day of trademark English football at places like the Britannia, Ewood Park etc.

Football is commercial enough nowadays...this would run the tradition of the game and it's oldest clubs and leagues into the ground! We have the Champions League for big European games and that is as far as it should go!

Any club deemed 'average' by UEFA or whoever would decide these leagues would result in them crumbling to pieces, any 'big name' players would leave for a 'super league' side and historic and long running clubs will become a no-name side....we hate them but teams like liverpool and

spurs would/could be forgotten and depending on how to qualify even we could be left out over a lot of historic European clubs, so counting ourselves in isn't a 100% possibility if this became reality.

Had this argument with many fans of many clubs, and it seems 'commercial modern fans' would love it (people who dont appreciate the tradition of the game and just wanna see colourful boots and stopovers week in week out) whereas a more traditional fan who appreciates a big tackle, a

rock of a header and someone sticking their laces through the ball rather than dinking it over a keeper.

STICK TO TRADITION. FOOTBALL HAS WORKED THUS WAY FOR ENOUGH YEARS, DOESN'T NEED CHANGE.

Prem,FA cup, Carling Cup, champions league and world club cup will do for me as our offering of tournaments.
