DavidEU 2,023
Didier Drogba last night signalled the end of his career at Chelsea by telling the club he will be competing at the Olympics next summer. The striker will lead the Ivory Coast team in Beijing in the three-week football tournament, ruling him out of a chunk of preseason and the start of the Premier League campaign. The decision will further enrage Chelsea, who already face being without him for a month from January 20 because of the African Nations Cup.The 29-year-old will miss five league games, the start of the Champions League knockout phase and FA Cup and Carling Cup ties while at the tournament in Ghana.Drogba claimed Chelsea were "broken" by Jose Mourinho's departure and putting country before club again for the Olympics is likely to be interpreted by the Stamford Bridge hierarchy as a lack of commitment."Surely this would reduce the chance of him moving, as he'll be away for alot of the summer and pre-season break. EskWeston 696
Weird, i thought the Olympics football was U23's or something like that. Last time i checked Didier wasn't under 23....

Elliott 7
I think Esk a nation is allowed 2 or 3 senior players in their olympic squad. It annoys me how it says Drogba is signalling the end of his Chelsea career by this move. Stupid sensationalism. That said, it is a blow.

Aesthetic Relic 301
I still think Drogbas future will depend on what happens with JM.If he gets a job this summer in club management I can see Drogba being targeted.
