Nemanja Matic the man to fill the holding role at Chelsea
Steve replied to EskWeston's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Hes a very big lad and i think he could do this job very well. Will look forward to seeing it happen if it actually does. -
Chelsea captain John Terry believes striker Nicolas Anelka has been the club's unsung hero this season. While Didier Drogba has taken the plaudits for his blistering 19-goal haul in the first half of the season, Anelka has quietly gone about his business. The French striker was once famed for his regular outbursts and short stints at clubs, but there is now a maturity about the vastly-experienced and talented marksman. Anelka is set to take a leading role for Chelsea in January with Drogba at the African Cup of Nations and Terry is backing the 30-year-old to help maintain the club's title charge. Fine form Terry believes the former Bolton ace has been in fine form all season and doubts whether there are many strikers out there who could lead the line and also operate behind a target man. "He's been magnificent again this season," said Terry. "There are not many players who can play the main goalscorer or the second striker role so effectively and he has quickly made Chelsea his club." SKY He has been amazing this season, hat off to you Nico. Keep it up lad.

You ever watched him play? He is one of the most hard working players ive ever seen play. And if im not mistaken he did score against us.

The forward is currently sidelined with an injury but Chelsea will keep tabs on his progress through the month and would be prepared to sign him as long as the signs of recovery are positive. According to a report in the Times Iaquinta would be available for in the region of £8m due to an abundance of attacking talent at the club. The striker has only featured in six matches for Juventus this season, a reflection of the fact he has been carrying an injury since October. A tall, imposing, physical player, Iaquinta would appear well suited to the Premier League. Ancelotti values his versatility and pace and his ability to occupy a forward position across the line as he seeks to add options to his attack. Meanwhile, Chelsea have decided to allow one of the players who was at the centre of a bitter £5 million legal feud with Leeds United to leave Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are now finalising terms with Carlisle over young midfielder Tom Taiwo who moved to Chelsea from Leeds along with fellow England Under-16 international Michael Woods in highly controversial circumstances. The move in 2006 saw Leeds have made a formal complaint to the Football League over three alleged illegal approaches by Chelsea. The league has referred the complaint to the Football Association as it involves a Premier League club. Telegraph I love him as a player, every juve game i see him play he always works really hard. But he is 30 years old.

Ivory Coast boss Vahid Halilhodzic claims Chelsea are running Didier Drogba into the ground and told them to stop using the striker like a 'machine'. Halilhodzic is concerned at his key player's fitness ahead of the Ivory Coast's Africa Cup of Nations opener against Burkina Faso. The tournament favourties are furious that Drogba has played nine games in five weeks for Chelsea. Halilhodzic fears the rest of his players will arrive in Angola later this week already shattered by club football as well. 'We are worried for all our players’ fitness in the squad, especially players like Drogba, who are always involved in so many matches,' said Halilhodzic. 'It is unrealistic for a player to play two matches in three days. That kind of fixture list is too demanding for key players like Drogba. 'Ten days ago I went to England to discuss it with Didier because I did not want this to continue happening to him. He is a human being, not a machine.' That said, Halilhodzic played Drogba, Manchester City's Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Eboue of Arsenal played in a warm-up against Tanzania on Monday. Sky Well what do they want us to do? Leave him on the bench so he wants to leave again? Where paying his wage at the end of the day. Sure he deserves a rest but if the player himself doesn't want to than its on him at the end of the day.

Not too sure about this game. Can see us getting a convincing win but than again can see us drawing or just scraping a win.

At the end of the day if do not sign Aguero there is better potential out there. Players like Pato are younger and have time on there contracts with there current clubs. So even after the ban is lifted we have other possible young targets out there later on. For now i would prefer us to wait and let us play Sturridge and Borini alongside anelka and see how they go. Sturridge did really well after watching the watford game. Same goes with Fabio, they both showed alot of potential and also alot of heart to prove themselves to Carlo. After Drogba and Anelka start losing form and not able to do what they are doing for us now i think we will sign someone than but until that time happens i think our squad is more than capable to cope.
