You can blame the players as much as you like for the below-par performance today - but the undeniable fact is that this one is on Rafa, purely due to his ridiculously naive team selection. It's the same old story as it was in his Liverpool days - his perplexing ideals of constant rotation, almost for the sheer sake of it rather than actual genuine reason - have cost us a result that has effectively ended any & all title hopes we may have been clinging on to. This is the main reason why I don't rate him as a manager - because he doesn't always play his best team when he actually needs to win games - & for me, that is simply illogical for a side that is chasing the league leaders & simply can't afford to drop points; let alone succumb to a distressingly embarassing loss against a club that is rooted to the bottom of the table . If players need a bit of a breather, then bring them off once we've already wrapped up the match instead of throwing them on after 70 mintues in some fruitless hopes of correcting the mistakes that were already made prior to kick off. Once again he has been dismissive of his seemingly inferior opponents - & this blatant ignorance & lack of respect for his peers in the game have been his own downfall. The problem is that since he is now our manager, we are also forced to endure the consequential effects of his colossal fuck ups... Time for all of those who were cast under his spell of deceitful ecstasy following the last few games to wake the fuck up & smell the reality of having Rafa in the dugout: he's still a cunt - & he's still a shit manager.

Poor team selection by Benitez - it's great & all to rest players & rotate, but this is the kind of team I would have expected against Southampton in the cup, not today. No one's having a particularly good game by any means...& I think we all know that our star striker has spent more time on the floor than on the ball so far...but I'm sorry, we simply can't have Marin & Moses on the pitch at the same time without Mata or Hazard - they just make far too many poor decisions when we're in promising positions around the box & ultimately any meaningful possession we have just goes to waste. Luiz also seems to be half asleep at the moment, basically spent the entire half lobbing random long balls in the hope that someone will just appear on the end of them. Aimless is probably best word to sum up our half as a whole. Mata/Hazard for Marin & if Moses is staying on then Ramires for Luiz. Marin should be off the pitch one way or another in any case. Fucking Rafa...

This is exactly why you are so fucking delusional when it comes to discussing this issue. Your main perogative for not giving him a contract is purely because you want to clear out Lampard just for the sake of an extra place in the team for younger players - that is where the whole pedo thing you completely misconstrued stemmed from. I really cannot possibly make my point any more clearly than this & it would just be absurd for you to deny it now. But let me, for a change, attempt to be as courteous, civil & concise as I can in my response in the hope that you will actually consider what I am saying a little more objectively. I fully understand & appreciate the idea & sentiment of your point. However, the fact is, if KDB & McEachran were better than Lampard at this curent moment, they would already be in the team. It's as simple as that. But in reality they are just nowhere near that level yet at this current moment; even if they have the potential to be one day. You can't possibly perservere with this idea of using the Chelsea first team - a team that is expected to win trophies every season without fail - for youth experiments & 'development'. If they still need time to develop in order to be deserving of a place ahead of the current team choices, then they just simply aren't ready yet. Oscar is a different story, because I believe he is a genuine potential successor to Lampard's position & role a few years from now & is already a first team standard player by all accounts. But at this young age, when he has more ability than experience, he is definitely more suited to a role as part of the 3 attacking midfielders behind Torres where he isn't so prone to making vital errors; & that is where he should be every single week in my ideal team. It is just unfortunate that Benitez has something against him for whatever reason - & therefore you should be blaming the lack of his game time on the manager, rather than on a player like Frank who has earned & actually deserves his place in the team based on current form alone. Maybe if you stopped focusing on the future 3 years down the road, then you would be able to see that what we actually need most as a club right now & in the immediate future - is for Lamps to sign a new contract so we can stay stable & successful until the new breed are ready to take their places & make their own mark at this club.

They are just a completely different breed & operate in different areas on the pitch, there is no way that they could possibly actually replace one another. If you want a genuine comparison, then Mata is similar to what Robben was for us, minus the pace & with a more inventive footballing mind, & equivalently Hazard minus the strength & balance but with better ball retention. Whilst Lampard...well there is no geuine valid comparison to Lampard. He is a once in a lifetime player, & it will be a long time before we see anyone wear & perform in a Chelsea shirt the way that he has. & do you not realise how wonderful some of the link up play between them is at times? The best goal we scored against Villa took the unreal vision, precision & delicacy that Mata possesses & few others do - & no one else in the world would have been able to not only have the composure to control such an ambitious ball & conceive the idea of the shot, but to also execute a finish as potent & exquisite as Lampard's was. That goal was pure class due to both of their parts in it. Having players like them who can provide both goals & assists from anywhere in & around the box is simply invaluable to this team & any other. So it baffles me as to why you aren't arguing for them as a cohesive unit & deadly combination of creative providers & finishers - as opposed to pitting them against one another in your blatant attempts at belittling Lamps as a a player. I'm sure there will be plenty of you who will perservere to dismiss him for his age, his wages, or any other contrived convoluted issues that are ultimately arbitrary matters once you're on the pitch - but in that case, I would have to ask you if you are actually being honest with yourself. Because honestly, if you don't want the greatest player to have ever walked out at the Bridge - who still remains one of the very best midfielders in the world today as he has been for an entire decade - to keep pulling on that jersey he loves more than anything every week until his legs simply won't let him anymore - well then you aren't a real Chelsea fan in my eyes. I'm sure that's a controversial statement to those that oppose it, but from my perspective, claiming that Frank does not deserve the contract that he wants could not be a more vagrant display of either your forgivably poor judgement in footballing terms - or your unforgivable lack of heart as a self-proclaimed supporter of this club. Frank Lampard is an uneclipsable hero, an undeniable legend - & continues to be the very heart & soul of Chelsea FC. He's the one who recognises exactly what the fans want, & wills every muscle & bone in his body to deliver it, as our increasingly impressive trophy cabinet has proven over the years that he has been here. In a time where his own club, & outrageous as it may seem, many of his own supporters have decidedly rejected his value as a top class first team player of the highest order - he continues to prove all of his critics wrong as his man of the match performance today has only reinforced. If you don't agree with what I have said, that's fine. I'm done with having to constantly justify what could not possibly be any clearer to me - & seemingly the majority of the footballing world, Chelsea associated or otherwise. So if you want to waste your time on a pointless redundant argument - take it up with Lampard's performances on the pitch - because that is a debate that you are destined to lose.

Well contrary to what you seem to be suggesting about my 'rampage', I never once mentioned any kind of superiority I may possess in direct relation to you - though it is now becoming more obvious what that may be - I was merely stating that you clearly fail to understand what the terms qualitative & quantitative actually allude to. If you actually bothered to read some of what I have posted, then you would find that I have been attempting to discuss Frank's situation in as rational a manner as anyone could - I have provided numerous justifications for all of my points throughout the last few pages, & the only reason I have had to reiterate many of them as you so love to point out, is largely due to the fact that you choose to simply ignore the majority of what I have written & dismiss it as nothing but 'babbling'. & so I have to attempt to convey my thoughts once again from a different angle, resulting in yet another of those essays that you so dread. Yet you attempt to portray this as some kind of moral victory since you are so much more simplistic in your argument that you don't even have to respond to what I have said at all - & you are under the illusion that it somehow discredits my own opinion & makes you automatically correct? Just because I utilise the full breadth of my vocabulary to express my thoughts & feelings as articulately as I possibly can do to convey my points accurately in relation to the content of my mind - does not mean I am attempting to channel Shakespeare in any way - this is simply how I write, & I like to write as similarly to the way I would speak the words face-to-face as I can do. I think you'll find that every single one of the words that I choose to use are contained in any official comprehensive dictionary. If you want me to sum it up in a culminative single sentence - if you truly don't think that Lamps deserves, at the very least, the same treatment as Gerrard has received at Liverpool, then I do have to question your footballing knowledge, beliefs & ideals considerably. He is still a far better player than the one you are attempting to depict him as - I'm unsure of what have against him exactly apart from age, but surely if you watch him as often as you claim to then you will realise that he remains one of the absolute best midfielders in the world, as he has been for the last 10 years. & yes I am talking about the CURRENT player that he is TODAY, not just the legend that he always will be regardless of anything else. Say what you like about wilting legs, but that breed of one-of-a-kind class & ability - is forever. So long as he still has the fitness to compete at the top level, there is absolutely no plausible reason I can conceive from my wildest imagination for wanting to discard the best player in the history of this club before his time has come. I don't know exactly what the terms of his demands are, nor what any deals he has already been offered may be composed of (maybe you know far more than the rest of us less-informed supporters?); but what I do know, is that if any kind of reasonable respectful contract was put in front of him, that guarantees he won't merely play the arbitrary cameo role Giggs & Scholes have been reduced to - he would take it in a heartbeat. Well seeing as this is a forum for discussion, & the only way to engage in this is by using words that I type into this box to convey my thoughts & feelings as thoroughly as I possibly can do, I don't really see any other way of communicating. If I said that all out loud to you, it would probably take only a few minutes, & surely reading through it can't consume more than 5 minutes of your time at the most. But clearly you don't bother to read much do you...
