  1. When a club is bought by a billionaire, it wants to buy the biggest stars and make that big impact. We had our time and no one can say it hasnt paid-off, Mancity had its time in 08-11 and PSG is having its time as we speak.I agree we are horrible at finding bargains, but people often only rember the players who worked and not the long list of flop promisses. There is always a gamble when buying those "small names", but they are amazing when they thrive. We are starting to mix big stars with promissing and talented small names (Azipi and Moses). However, we need to do it more frequently. It will improve our depth, ego management and finances. I just dont think we will ever get a trully bargain, we always have to pay more. A bargain CB or Pivot or Backup Striker would be more than welcomed, but I do think we need a very big senior CF.
  2. Mourinho has way more credid at Porto, Inter and RM than what you are making. At the begining with Porto, he had a great squad from the past manager (cant remeber the name but he was one of his mentors), but they had no belief. His man mangerment was superb! At Inter, he got a squad who was only good for Italy and made them Champions of Europe. You must be thinking it is FIFA, because saying that he didnt build the 2010 squad is at least just wrong. Buying 3 of their most important players at that time, recovering others and convicing everyone to give their all isnt enough I guess. Mourinho made Eto'o defend (it is like asking Ibra to be polite), made Lucio stop his attacking adventures (the same ones Luiz has) and recovering Cambiasso are some of the improvements he brought. No wonder they went downhill (not only the team, but the players as well). Chelsea was Jose's best ever job and I think we would have won it all if we didnt lose to Loserpool (ghost goal). He was excellent in every way. However, that doesnt mean he was not great at all of his other clubs. At Real, he got a bunch of good players who hated each other and didnt care for anything more than indivudual success. He took a team that couldnt even beat Barcelona nor pass Round of 16 of UCL and transformed them into the second best team in the world. Again, it is much more than the tranfers itself. He will leave them light years ahead from what he received. Building a squad is very very difficult, I think a top manager is as important as having top players. And Mourinho is a very top one. If Jose and Pep go to Manchester, I very much fear for our future...
  3. At the very first games the media impact will do, but down the road you are right, he will need to perform. There is no way for any of us to convince the other, we will have to wait to see if he really comes and if he performs.
  4. The first two points are completely true for casual and abroad fans. Dont try to deny the increase in marketing revenue big sigings have. The sponsor aspect is more of better deals due to the increase in media impact. The fans we get are the plastic ones (that usually follow the trend), but they still bring money. I am experiencing it with Oscar, our shirt sales and media exposure has almost double because of him.The "mental impact" is true, in any sport. For instance, dont you think RG3 worries his opposition and cheers his teammates?
  5. Stop talking nonsense... Mourinho won against the odds at Porto and tey are doing great ever since. Mourinho built a Chelsea team that lasted 4 years past his time. Mourinho bought the players who really made a difference in Inter (Sneijder, Eto'o and Diego) and recovered some that werent playing great (Lucio, Cambiasso and Julio Cesar). Mourinho made this RM squad, he lost the dressing room, but the next manager only needs to buy an RB an the team is complete. Again, what did you say?
  6. 1. Shirt sales and sponsors. 2. More fans. 3. Pressure off some youngsters. 4. Mental impact on the opposition and space for other attacking players. 5. Assists (how many Torres has?). There are more a "regular" striker wont bring...
  7. Falcao will add more than 20-25 goals per season, his upside is way greater than goals. Now find me someone who will bring it and still costs 20-25m. I will openly accept him!
  8. Did you change the notification message from "quoted your post" to "has repplied"? EDIT: No, you didnt. I am receiving notification for any post in Radamel Falcao Thread. How do I turn it off?
  9. I think he would have gone for about what Aguero went (38m).I agree we have started a terrible trend (but wasnt because of Torres, it was Roman's money and ambition that brought inflation) and I realise no one is worth 50m (some special ones aside), but we are in need for a striker when he is in top of his form. Cavani can go for about 35m in August, but do we really wait to gamble a top4 or more competition?
  10. You know I dont use stupid and rude arguments, this is just not me, so no need for your concerns. I agree 47m is a lot, but where have you thought we can buy a great striker for 25m? Name me one...(RVP does not count, as it was 27m or nothing, if he was in a normal contract, it would be 35m+) We payed 24.5m for Drogba 8 years ago, it was such a high amount for any player at that time that the media criticized us for paying that much for an unproved Ligue 1 striker. It was no big difference than today's Falcao...
  11. I have never seen a New Year's present, could it be Christmas? I would have wanted Mourinho to win us UCL if it wasnt for RDM!
  12. See, that is where you dont get it...Drogba's goal in FA Cup Final, he received a great pass, but without his litle dance and amazing finesse shot, we woundt have score. This is a created goal. In the play, there was a pass and involvement of other players, but he was ultimately the reason for that goal. Analysing by this perspective, you will be able to find a lot of that type of goals from Falcao (it is not only outside shots or turning shots). There is more than his direct impact. He is more than fearful and it will open space for Mazacar and Moses. As good as a team is, the pshycologic impact on the opposition is very important (look at Barça). Also, he opens a lot of space for his colegues. So, all of the above is just to try to prove why a cheap (but good) striker isnt enough. For me, we should buy Falcao + DM (loan) in January and really sort all of our other problems next season (Real Manager, Ball Control CM, Top CB, Great LB and Backup ST).
  13. Sturridge will thrive at Liverpool, but if he ever returns to a Big Club, he will flop again. He is a typical player that was too good to be on the bench and not good enough to lead a UCL Champion. It was good for both parts, considering the circunstances...
  14. I agree a striker can depend on service, but it is important that a player can resolve games on his own, even if the playmakers arent in a good day. What I dont agree is that he depends on his teammates more than anything or that he is only a finisher. He is not amazing in every trait, but he is not shit is any of them. He can handle himself in any team (but Barcelona). Any striker do more goals from service (crosses, passes, etc), but Falcao is one of the top CFs that most score out of his own (longshots, marked shots, opening up of spaces, etc). I doubt you havent seen a lot of this goals at Atletico and Colombia. Also, I think he does more than some strikers people want: Lewandoski, Higuain, etc. Like I have said many times, Cavani has more upsides. However, he will do the job and we wont bother to complain.
  15. I reckon Perez wont gamble to see what happens in Manure clash, he will be sacked soon...
  16. 1. Do you watch Falcao? Seriously, he creates a lot of his goals. When footballers say "create his own chances", they mean the striker didnt just scored from an open net, there are a lot of ways to create chances. The turning aspect you quoted is just one way of opening space. Falcao creates a lot of his own goals, he does it really often. Barcelona, Chelsea, Bilbao, etc. 2. Your reference of Drogba at Camp Nou only reveals his spirit to win hos most desired UCL. Dont try to make his will of playing LB/CB as a metaphor os his workrate or teamplay, it was all part of the circunstances. We all know he was a bit lazy at unimportant or routine games. You are using one specific game to try to convince us that he was a better team player than Falcao? Radamel helps in the defense more than you might imagine. 3. A decent striker would have won us CWC, but what about the next 3-4 UCLs, EPLs, FA Cups, etc? Choulo19, you are an excellent poster, but your opinion about Falcao is way out of line. There is no need to transform him in a God (like some), however, there is no need to underate it in every aspect.
  17. And the diving award goes to....Walcott!
  18. No, it means (just like Neymar, Modric and Hulk) that we actually are in talks with him and Atletico. When the media hears anything, they overrract to make it more appealing to readers. All of the three players I listed were trully having negotiations with us. Neymar gave up because he was convinced to stay until 2014, we had alteady agreed to pay his 45m buy-out clause. Hulk had an offer of 26m and a certain wage he had already accepted, but Porto asked for 38m an we backed up. Modric was part of a long conversation between us and spuds, it got up to 40m and even this high did not make Levy sell him (who was later sold for 33m). So, if the media discovers something, why would they write something everybody already knows, "Chelsea in advanced talks over Radamel"? It is way better to guess we have already finished and if they get it right, they can praise themselves.
  19. No, why would TC have two articles of the exact same topic (even if with different aproaches and perspectives)?I will just delete everything and start thinking of another topic to write about... Thanks!
  20. And I supose this is completely OK?I was actually going to study and do an article worth putting on a newspaper, I had even downloaded 14 different games with different levels performances and outcomes from Falcao, Cavani and Lewandoski. I had also put 3 statistic sites in the favorites section. I wasnt going to write something out of my mind just for fun, it was actually going to be worth reading. I am really pissed!
  21. It does hurts! Why do Lego have to be made out of such hard plastics? LOL
  22. I bet we wouldnt have such a thin squad.
  23. FUUUCK! It was anounced days ago in Brazilian media that Chelsea had contacted his brother... I decided not to create such a terrible and delusional thread, but I couldnt contain Daily Star. GTFO GUERRO!
  24. It is way more of a "brainer", he is young and we dont know how great he will be.Falcao has probably an adaptation problem, but we already know how good he is. If we dont buy him and City or Real does, I dont want to see everyone who is bashing him now regeting his goals in the future. We more than must buy this guy!
