This game (ManU)- also in the Hazard thread, WITH argumentation he went missing, but put in a good shift defensively. I believe he always has slight form issues at the start of the season + he is adapting to Mou (defensive wise). Eden needs games to be fit and find his feet. So yes, I would give him some minutes against Bayern or would you like Bayern played with a non fit Mata, no Hazard and Mikel, Moses and Ba on the pitch? Now theres a Bratwurst those germans would love to eat

It is interesting when you rewatch the game with Eden's performance in mind. Every time he dropped really deep - even coming to the goal area. When we had a break out he often got the ball well on his own half. He chose to play to the CM's a lot, who in turn broke of/slowed down any attack. It makes me think a lot of Eden (non)performance is due to his tactical instructions. They balance the team defensively, but keeps his distinct threat too far away from the goal. This exemplified by the fact that when he DID get the ball close to goal with Oscar closely, something happened (eg 65th minute where Oscar just couldn't put his foot on that cross). Unfortunately we either didn't get much in that position and when we did, he was double marked the whole time. I keep feeling an in form Mata would have taken advantage of that ... Ow well .... move on !

I know that, mate. Still, why is there a taboo on saying we were really defensive? It was a very physical game, both teams really defended well. It looked like the first match on a world cup where nobody wants to lose. Games don't need goals to be entertaining, but that was hardly a spectacle, both sides cancelled each other out. Is it still allowed to say this, or do I break the Blue Omerta?

Lets check Redcafé for some non-blue perspective ... From just the first two pages post match. Not pessisimism, but we did have a negative game-plan and it doesn't look really pretty (except Hull first time). Im hoping for better - i wanna see that dynamics and intensity Mou keeps talking about.
