  4. Stephanie Frappart will become the first woman to referee a major game in European men’s competition when she takes charge of our Super Cup meeting with Liverpool. The French official refereed a Ligue 1 match in April as well as last month’s Women’s World Cup final. In Istanbul on August 14 she will be joined by two female assistant referees she worked with in her homeland over the summer, compatriot Manuela Nicolosi and Ireland's Michelle O'Neal. Frappart has been promoted to an elite pool of referees for French top-flight games for the new season. In a statement, UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin said: ‘As an organisation, we place the utmost importance on the development of women's football in all areas. ‘I hope the skill and devotion that Stephanie has shown throughout her career to reach this level will provide inspiration to millions of girls and women around Europe and show them there should be no barriers in order to reach one's dream.’ UEFA chief refereeing officer Roberto Rosetti added that Frappart ‘fully deserves’ her chance on this stage and said he hopes ‘this match will provide her with yet more experience as she enters the prime of her refereeing career’.
  5. Fuck Fuck Fuck Why is the game not being shown live? We are unable to show the game live due to UK broadcasting restrictions covering Saturday afternoons during the football season. The restrictions apply to non-competitive as well as competitive games and commence the weekend of this pre-season match v Borussia Monchengladbach for this coming season. Hope Vesper will come to my rescue

  12. Yep agree. These matches are just testers, win, lose, or draw, it's about how each individual performs, not necessarily the result. It's about who we've got now that 4 of our definite starters are out injured.
  13. Bad enough without Rudiger, CHO RLC and ReeceJames, now the Wee inspiration.
  14. From Sky Sport Chelsea's N'Golo Kante returns to UK for treatment Last Updated: 21/07/19 8:29am N'Golo Kante sustained the injury in May N'Golo Kante has travelled back to the UK to continue his rehabilitation for an injury connected to the knee problem he sustained at the end of last season. Kante, who has not featured for Chelsea during pre-season, suffered the injury during their 2-0 win over Watford in May. At the time, then head coach Maurizio Sarri said it was a mistake to play Kante and that he should have rested the France midfielder. Chelsea's current head coach Frank Lampard suffered his first defeat in charge as they lost 1-0 to Kawasaki in Yokohama on Saturday. Despite the loss, Lampard still saw plenty of positives in his team's performance in Yokohama. 2:09 Mount inspired by 'role model' Lampard Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount says he is inspired by 'role model' Frank Lampard who he expects to give him his first-team chance at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount says he is inspired by 'role model' Frank Lampard, who he expects to give him his first-team chance at Stamford Bridge "I thought they gave everything in strong humidity," he said. "Some good individual performances, some people finding their fitness and form. The normal things in pre-season that take a bit of time, which is probably being clinical in front of goal, which we were not. "But that comes and some small details, which we will work on. So I have no fears, I was happy with big parts of the performance." Next up for Chelsea is a match against Barcelona at the Saitama Stadium on July 23.
