So let's see what Costa has done in the last 4 seasons. At the age of 22 (the same age as Lukaku is now) Costa suffered a very serious knee injury, the type of injury that made players like Torres and Falcao come back as a shadow of what they used to be. After Costa recovered he was loaned to Rayo, no one expected much from him as he had just returned from a long lay off, he went on and scored 10 goals in 16 games to help save Rayo from Relegation, The following season he then goes back to Atletico and is asked to play on the wing or as a number 10 behind Falcao, (who was the best striker in the world at the time) and Costa goes on to score 20 goals that season without even playing as a striker, he also scored in every round of the Copa Del Rey including the final against Real Madrid, en route to lifting the trophy. Then the following season in 2013/14 his impressive form gets rewarded and he gets his chance as Atletico's 1st choice striker, he goes on to score 36 goals! 27 in La Liga just 1 less then Lionel Messi, his goals and performances played a key role in guiding Atletico to the La Liga title, something Aguero couldn't do, he also scored 8 goals in the CL that season en route to the final, which Atletico probably would have won had Costa been fit. Then he moves to a new country in a new league in a new team and scores for fun once again, playing a key role in Chelsea's PL and CoC successes! That is an insane 4 seasons after such a bad injury! Not many players in world football can match what Costa has done in the last 4 seasons, only a world class player can come back from such a bad injury and do what Costa has done. Since Costa returned from a serious knee injury Costa 87 goals in 149 games - 0.58 goals per game Aguero 107 goals in 164 games - 0.65 goals per game so Aguero has scored 20 more goals in 15 more games, now factor in Costa didnt even play as a striker in one of those seasons, he had to overcome the type of injury that all but ends most players careers at the highest level, and then factor in the fact Aguero has done nothing in CL outside of the group stages. and then if you were to minus penalties scored i am sure it would be very similar stats between both players. Sorry but when you look at what both have done for their teams in the last 4 seasons, you can see Costa's achievements have been far more impressive, and before you say Aguero won 2 PL titles for City, yes he did he won 2 PL titles by small margins in uncompetitive seasons, with 2 of the most exspensive squads ever assembed in the PL, so taking everything into consideration its clear for me Costa > Aguero.
-
LOOL! yes last 4 years! I owned you like I always do on that topic before, you ran off and had no reply! And as for dubious stats you are the king at that! Just like you have prove once again today by trying to add assist stats to boost up Aguero and Lukaku! LOOOL And as for Matic once again I owned you on that topic where you even had to backtrack and admit he wasn't the best in all 3 of those games! LOL So if you want to get owned again, that is fine by me.
-
with Chelsea the only quality team he has played against in the CL is PSG, where as a team we were awful. Aguero has never done anything of note in the KO stages, Costa has for Atletico when he played a big role in getting them to the CL Final!
-
LOOL oh the irony! fact is i back up my opinions! over the last 4 season Costa has been more impressive then Aguero and Lewandowski! you are the person who thinks Matic is playing bad and cant even do the basics because of Fabregas! LOL You talk more BS then anyone! i back up what i say, you dont, that is the difference.
-
I like how you add assists to try and boost Lukaku and Aguero's stats, so below are non penalty goals from last season. Lukaku 16 goals in 3736 minutes or goal every 233 minutes Costa 20 goals in 2863 minutes or goal every 143 minutes Aguero 25 goals in 3201 minutes or goal every 128 minutes So yes Lukaku is a level below, maybe 2 levels below, as a number of Lukaku's goals were in the Europa League.
-
Last Season Lukaku 20 goals in 48 games or 0.41 goals per game Costa 21 goals in 37 games or 0.56 goals per game no mattter what way you look at it Costa is a level above Lukaku, Costa is world class Lukaku will most likely never become world class.
-
Drogba like Ian Wright were late bloomers, Lukaku clearly isnt, as he already has a few years of PL and International experience. Costa suffered a serious knee injury at 22 years old which set him back, and made his progression to the top a bit slower then it would have
-
i never claimed i can, i use real logic and have said its unlikley he will make it at a top team and become world class. I asked this question which no one could answer how many players at 24+ years old who have never made it at a top team have suddenly gone to a top team and become world class? not many, which is why i think its unlikely and then factor in Lukaku's issues with competition for places and it looks even more unlikely
-
championship player??? what? i have already said i think he will be a very good PL level striker.
-
LOOOL everything you have said is the same bs i have heard time and time again, fact is no one can prove me wrong.
-
Yes, I am the one who started the Martial thread! i watched him a number of times last year and was extremley impressed, i rate him very highly and like that he has backed his ability and gone to a top team where he can now develop into a world class player, unlike Lukaku.
-
no i said its going to be very unlikely now that he will ever become world class and fufil his potential, i see him as someone who can have a good PL career scoring plenty of goals, i see him like Robbie Keane or Les Ferdinand, can score goals for an average team but not quite good enough to make it at a top team. Being 23 and not playing CL football and not even playing for a team who challenges for trophies is not a good position to be in for someone who wants to play at a top team, and be successful.
-
he will most likely be there until 24 at least, you have seen the way Everton kept hold of Stones and dont want to become a selling club, then with the new TV deal coming in Everton will have even more power to hold onto him while he is under contract.
-
no he isnt at the perfect place, by the time a player is 24/25 a top team expects that player to be ready to play at the highest level, after spending so many years at a medicore team Lukaku is going to have adapt again and learn to play for a top team, and what top team will sign him as their 1st choice striker??? he is unproven at a top club, i cant see any signing him unless its as a back up, which Lukaku wont like
-
he has thrown his chance away of reaching his full potential, Everton are a mediocre team, who will never progress into a top team, he has proven he is a good PL level striker, but he hasnt proved he is good enough to make it at a top team, he will be 23 at the end of the season, by the time his contract expires at Everton he will be 26 years old, now how many 26 year olds suddenly become world class after spending so many years developing at a mediocre team with no CL football?
-
LOL i don't think people are hurt, I am personally frustrated with him as he had the world at his feet, and has thrown it away, he could have been a top European striker right now had he believed in himself, but he is happy now to score goals for a medicore team, I want to see Lukaku man up at some point and have a go trying to make it at a top club one last time but I just don't think he has it in him.
-
Yes the right choice if he wants a mediocre career of just being a decent PL goalscorer with no silverware or CL experience, fact is it hasn't proven to be the right choice if he wants to ever become a world class striker, there isn't exactly a long line of elite teams queuing up to sign him is there? Why? Because he is yet to prove himself at a top club, so it's a risky investment for any top team to sign him, if one does it will most likely to be to become a 2nd or 3rd choice striker, which would be just what Lukaku would want. LOL
-
No we wasn't, after we let Lukaku go we bought in Eto'o and no it wasn't a smart move, he would have learned and developed way more at Chelsea, how many top players today played for Mickey mouse teams at 22/23 years old without any real CL experience also? Not many at all. I know if I was a pro I would rather learn from and train with a top team surrounded by world class players and a world class manager, rather then go to an average team and learn to be mediocre and get used to not winning. I gaurantee if Ronaldo had not believed in himself and stayed in Lisbon until he was 22/23 years old he would never have won a Ballon D'or going to United and learning from Fergie and learning from top players at such a young age helped make him the player we see today.
-
Who mentioned anything about him when he was 18??? I am talking about after 2 good loan spells at WBA and Everton, he was clearly ready to try and make a step up at Chelsea, he proved he was good enough for the PL and wasn't a one season wonder, but saw Torres and Ba and didn't back his ability, and wanted to take the easy option of remaining at a average team, so yes I do call it a lack of self belief.
-
Well if you hav that attitude and lack self belief, to think that you cant get into the Chelsea first team ahead of Torres, Eto'o and Ba, then it makes sense why you will never make it at a top club.
-
and as i already said De Bruyne doesnt come into that bracket, De Bruyne was up for the fight but didnt see eye to eye with Jose i dont believe players like De Bruyne, Sturridge or Luiz were scared of competing for a place in the team, Lukaku was.
-
just reading your post again, i see you said 'YOUR stars' what do you mean by that? are you not a Chelsea fan? or do you just not want to be asociated with the Chelsea players? you seem to defend players like De Bruyne, Lukaku and David Luiz and then refer to Chelsea players as your stars as if they have no connection to yourself, i find that very strange, and the funny thing is i gaurantee not only you but the other few people who spend so much energy trying to defend De Bruyne and Lukaku whenever i speak the truth about them or give my opinion on them, if they were wearing Chelsea shirts and were in bad form you and the others who defend them would be slating them, but because they dont play for Chelsea you and the few others praise them no matter what. I find that very strange.
-
why on earth do you keep comparing Lukaku to kdb? such a lazy comparison that makes little sense.
-
We are going round in circles here, fact is you haven't come up with one good counter argument, you tried by comparing Lukaku to De Bruyne which backfired on you as they are very different. there is really nothing you can say to prove me wrong, only Lukaku can prove me wrong by going to a top team, face competition for the number 1 spot, get dropped and then not sulk and instead fight to earn his place back, if Lukaku can do that then I will say I was wrong, but I know that won't happen, Lukaku would no doubt sulk and leave if he ever loses his place in the team. Only top club who may sign him is Man United as they currently don't have any top strikers, but I doubt they would ever be satisfied with Lukaku as their number 1 striker and they would just sign a real top striker and Lukaku would inevitably sulk again.
-
LOL what have I just read! First of all player ratings mean nothing to me! I watch games to form opinions not see how random websites rate players! And the fact is we wouldn't be better with them as they wouldn't solve our issues! They wouldn't stop us leaking goals and they wouldn't stop us getting dominated in midfield! Even Messi would struggle to play well for us with the way we have been playing! This isn't FIFA this is real life.
