  1. I'd settle for a Chelsea win and a Spurs/Bolton draw... its puts up up 1pt with two games left and the edge in goal differential. As a quick side note Tottenham have one win in 12 Premier League meetings at the Reebok Stadium W-1 D-4 L-7. Tottenham are winless in their last 8 Premier League away games - D4 L4. Last win came in Dec 27 where they triumphed 2-0 at Norwich. Bolton is fighting relegation so this could be a dangerous game for them.
  2. This is becoming cliche... every game from here on out is must win, we simply have run out of options
  3. You are wacko... There is no room for an 18 yr old striker who hasn't played all season in any of these games! especially when we have two in form strikers ahead of him... Lukaku's time left about a month ago.
  4. Agreed but we will have one very large one(if we're lucky) and that will probably result in half of that proposed kitty being eaten. If we prioritize areas of need I would say its Winger, Midfielder, RB, Striker... A guy like Hazard or Moura will not come cheap and if we're in for one of them I would SURELY use the money to sign one of them well before I take a striker.
  5. Calm down? I'm very calm what we're talking about is prudent spending not carefree like years past. If you had a number how much do you think would be made available this summer for us to spend? I can't see more than maybe £75M but that's me
  6. I don't know if you know how dire the situation is.... This was written in Feb. and much has changed since then but it will give you a good indication of how FFP will have a impact on Chelsea. We're definitely not in the clear we have to seriously spend prudently over the next little while... Read this and tell me what you think http://www.weaintgotnohistory.com/2012/2/9/2787509/chelsea-financial-fair-play-analysis
  7. Like who? Who can we acquire for peanuts that would vastly improve us at the striker position?
  8. Lets just agree to disagree. There is no way in hell I will ever accept a player at 21 being considered inconsistent, particularly when that player was playing a bit part role at 18,19 and 20...
  9. I agree but if you make a striker your marquee signing you haven't really done much to address the other weaknesses on the squad have you?
  10. We can make one marquee signing but I doubt that will be a striker. I see a winger like Moura(my choice), Hazard or maybe Di Maria but its one marquee and a few squad players like the Marin signing.
  11. No guarantees no matter who the striker is... my point is we've been spending an awful lot of money on a striker and not enough on other areas and THAT is what has hurt us the most. Torres isn't my first choice as striker and never was the guy I wanted but he is who we have and he needs a chance to come good before we decide we have to get someone else. Its been a year, hardly long enough to make that sort of assessment especially when you look at the other areas of the team that are glaring weaknesses. With financial fair play coming in we can't just spend, spend and spend anymore, we have to be prudent about where we spend our shillings and right now striker just doesn't seem like the right spend, particularly when you look at the wages some of those guys are on. If you can find a taker for Torres maybe then you can make the investment on another high priced striker but with him on the roster and the areas we need to address its not smart money to buy a striker. How much do you really think we're going to spend this off season?
  12. So where is it you're getting this bold proclamation from then? Without a doubt consistency comes with adaptation and maturity. You can't possibly think that young kids who have never played at this level before are going to be consistent performers in their first season or two do you? I think that's a little premature. Everything in its time...
  13. I don't believe that at all if we address the other areas of the team it could definitely go a long way to improving our goalscoring output. Sturridge has a lot to learn as a winger as a striker maybe not so much. We add a winger and a deep lying playmaker and the need to add a Cavani or someone else is lessened.
  14. Can you name me 3 players on the current Chelsea squad who have been consistent performers at the age of 21?
  15. He's not a winger, he's playing out of position in his first full season, definitely not the easiest task. He has some learning to do but definitely worth gambling on at this stage in his career. I don't see the need to go out and pay top dollar for a striker when we have Nando and Sturridge and possibly Didier and Lukaku... Its time to spread the money elsewhere which may in turn see more return on the aforementioned players
  16. Consistency comes with age and maturity in Junior Hoilett's case he's 21 and adjusting to being a regular player in the EPL, not an easy task... Especially when you play on a team like Blackburn! I have faith he will grow as a footballer and even if he doesn't its not a huge investment, we can get him on a free this summer and sign him to a reasonable deal.
  17. Complete agreement. Cole is the best LB in the game when on, he should be able to neutralize Robben. I would much rather have Cole and Sturridge running at Robben and Contento(or whoever) Kalou is much better at tracking back and covering so he can provide help for Bosingwa
  18. Really? the criteria for MotM shouldn't be complicated he came away with 3 goals in a match its a rare enough feat to warrant being the clear MotM
  19. Absolutely incredible result! Wasn't sure if the guys would be up for a shellacking but was hoping for it and once we went up 2-0 i knew it was on! Did QPR ever look like they were in the game? Cech - Big when he had to be not really tested - 6.0 Cole - Has been brilliant the last few weeks and once again the best LB in football - 7.5 Terry - Didn't have much to do defensively and scored the goal that pretty much killed the game. - 7.5 Bosingwa - seems like whenever he's played out of position he has a blinder - 8 Ferriera - Didn't have much to do but did it well, always plays well when called upon! - 7 Essien - Still finding his true game legs its coming but not sure if this is the year - 6.5 Lampard - accepting the deeper role may have bought him 1-2 more years in the starting XI, he has been incredible there!! - 8 Sturridge - The time on the bench watching the game may have done him a world of good! great goal! and tracked back sprayed some good passes too. - 8 Mata - If you give him space and time on the ball in the midfield he will hurt you... just ask Tottenham and QPR! - 8.5 Kalou - Seems to be doing everything Robbie has asked him to do and is being rewarded with time! Always looks for Torres too... - 7 Torres - meh... hahaha great to see him find some form at the most pivotal point of the season! - 9
  20. Torres had a hat trick... come on dude.
  21. Marin is best deployed as a winger not a midfielder.
  22. I wouldn't take him if the price is still £40M! that's for damn sure! its a year later and he hasn't exactly set the world a flame like he did the previous year. Still think Levy is a moron turning down that kind of dough for a want away
  23. Terry is a massive loss but we can cover that with Luiz and Cahill. Both were partnered together when Terry was injured and did very well, even better as of late. Badstuber is your best CB by a country mile and without reasonable cover you don't worry about who is going to contain Drogba? Especially considering many have tried and failed? Our major loss is without a doubt Ramires, we don't have anyone on the squad that can play box to box and pretty much excel in any role you give him. Ivanovic is also a major loss since our cover there is weak... Still we have enough veterans who know this is probably their last chance to hoist the trophy so I expect to see a similar performance to that of Barca. you guys have great attacking options but your defence leaves a lot to be desired. Our physicality could be a factor as much as our experience and desire to finally get a trophy. It won't be easy and Bayern are the favourites but please don't make it sound as though this game can't go either way! There isn't that much difference especially when you take into account the experience we have on our side.
