You may be right but we'd be dumb to hold spots for players because they're homegrown. I'm a firm believer if their good enough they will play! They may even have a slight advantage because they are english. If they end up being World Class its a good problem to have in my opinion
-
What's the rush? Van Ginkel will be in the squad next year the others have to get better before they are ready to play for this squad. How do they get better? I'm not a believer in loaning being the best route but I'm not a footballing expert, I would give them 5-10 appearances in the first team.

For someone who is so adamant on controlling spending you've picked two clubs that are far and away the antithesis to your protest! Chelsea can afford to spend escalating transfer fees. The fees go up because the shares have gone up, teams have more money than every before and its not secret so to get the desired player requires you spend more than you might have even a year ago! The new TV deal makes it as such. Chelsea won nothing last year and have 150M to spend in the window....
-
Yet you've been a Chelsea fan since when? You won't stop prices from escalating! TV deals and revenues dictate where the market is going and as long as those figures keep rising so to will player salaries and transfer fees. The fact is there aren't many players who you can say justify a big price tag like 50m, least of which David Luiz! We were awarded a rare opportunity to view a transfer as a swap out, not too disimmilar to Mata for Matic. We can afford to add one of the most sought after midfielders before he enters his prime, the situation we're in is what makes it tantalizing. Had we not sold Luiz I wouldn't go near Pogba for this amount but the fact that we got so much for him makes it easier to digest paying such a fee for a borderline world class box to box midfielder who Juve don't have any need to sell. You pay it because you think in time he will be worth it but you won't have an opportunity to later. Agree to disagree let's just let all the big names go to our rivals because you'd rather have an Azpilicueta to a Pogba which is obviously a good comparison.
-
Can argue that, its tough
-
When you come to grips with the fact the marketplace isn't static and that availability dictates a players worth you will have a clue. Modric is not the same type of player as Pogba. Why is this so hard for people to comprehend? Pogba is not worth 50m but Juve don't have to sell so that drives up his price! I'll put it to you as well, if I told you we could swap Luiz for Pogba with no financial loss for the club would you do it? The money doesn't matter we're in the black by a fair margin
-
I heard £48m for Luiz. But like I said, if you could swap Luiz for Pogba would you do it?
-
its 50M not 65m and if I told you we could swap Luiz for Pogba what would you say?
-
Gundogan is not as good as Pogba... not even close.
-
I want both and its attainable but no need to rush these kids.
-
Not just limited to this chap but also those who think we can take any player who plays in the midfield into a deep lying midfielder of a Jose Mourinho side. Rakitic, Cuadrado, Gundogan, Kroos all names of players I've heard who carry skill but don't fulfill the Jose philosophy of defense leading to offense.
-
LOL Find me one that is as good as Pogba and fits into Jose's philosophy. Paulinho?
-
€65m is a lot of dough if we couldn't afford it. Juve don't have to sell him so we have to make an offer they can't refuse and it just so happens that since Luiz was moved because an-offer-was-made-that-we-couldn't-refuse, it put us in a position to offer similar stupid cash for a player we desperately need. If I told you we could straight up swap Luiz of Pogba what would you say???
-
But they really don't do it consistently do they?
-
I'm still waiting for you to tell me the name of one player world class or otherwise that can produce consistent A level football week in week out. The fact that Pogba is producing world class football at 21 even if its sporadic is a good thing! His best years are ahead of him.
-
They need a few successful loan spells before we can sell them.
-
At some point we have to see these guys make it into the squad though. I just don't think we should avoid buying a potentially world class midfielder because we have a few decent looking youngsters. If they're good enough they will play, Jose doesn't hold a bias, whoever is best will play.
-
Don't believe the papers dude, if they were even close to accurate we'd have Cavani, Falcao, Modric, Lewdandowski and Costa by now.
-
I know what he's envisioned as but I don't think the sort of player who doesn't have any defensive acumen is the type of player Jose would play next to Matic. In my mind the way we set out is more akin to a pack of wolves hawking after the ball as a unit, if you don't know how to do that you won't play. The team I see is more about power and pace, Rakitic ticks the box in terms of how Chelsea supporters would like to see the team play but I don't see Jose paying a big fee for a player who only plays one way. Pogba is more a Jose player, box to box, picks a pass, wins tackles, composed on the ball.
-
Insane indeed but on par with Bale at 86 and Shaw at 30. Ever changing marketplace. I have no idea what Pogba's true value is, what I do know is Juve don't have to sell and we just got a kitty that is similar to winning the lottery. Hedging bets is obviously not the right terminology to describe gambling a windfall on potentially the next Yaya but what I will say is £50m for Pogba won't make me flinch... Only because we were wowed by the Luiz deal.
-
Can't say for sure.
-
Rakitic? how much do you think he will cost? does he put in a tackle? have the ability to win the ball back? Doesn't strike me as a Jose type player.
-
this transfer kitty is play money. No one thought we'd sell Luiz let alone for that much... We have the opportunity to make a luxury buy who potentially can make us the most complete teams in the world(with a striker of course) These types of players, if they ever become available, don't come cheap! Its a rare opportunity to grow the club, we don't have to worry about money just the right players. There aren't many players in the world that can do the job Pogba is capable of... In my mind substituting Pogba of Luiz dollar for dollar is a no brainer. PSG put us in a position where the money we pay for Pogba doesn't really matter, he won't be on crazy wages....
-
Gundogan... Now there's an overrated midfielder if I've every heard of one. Soon to be 30 Bastien and 29 yr old Luka. Pogba is right there with those names if you ask me.
-
Subjective. I think he's very close. Who are the players who you think classify as 'world class' in his position? Vidal, Yaya and?
