  1. He will score a bagful of goals for a second rate team. Also, we'll only be crying over Lukaku if Costa fails and whoever we buy to replace Lukaku ends up being not as good. I only want players who WANT to be here and fight for the badge, if Lukaku would rather ply his trade elsewhere, so be it... We will find a suitable replacement and still win the league. The success or lack thereof of this club is not tied to Lukaku, we have the ability to attract the best players in the world so if he goes out another will come in at some point. If he doesn't sign an extension there is no proof he is willing to stay here and fight for a place.
  2. We sold Sturridge because he wanted to leave and didn't want to sign an extension, he was in the final year of a contract and we were fortunate to get as much as we did for him. I didn't want to see him go thought he had bags of potential the season he was given his chance he got injured and couldn't feature... We went into that season with only he and Torres so surely chances were going to come. He opted to leave on account of what happened the season before where AVB took a hard stance and told him he was going to play the wing for him.
  3. I'm sure we'll find a crack to creep through. He just turned 21 in March isn't u-21 applicable to anyone under the age of 21 before the turn of the calendar? Not sure. Anyway something tho think about! ;-)
  4. I'm not worried, the success of this season isn't tied to Romelu Lukaku. We just bought the most clinical striker in europe and the 4th highest goal scorer overall. We came off a season where a couple of HIGHLY questionable decisions didn't go our way and in the end we lost out on the title by 4pts(first season back under the boss, players getting used to his philosophy) not to mention we went to the semis of the champions league one home win away from the finals with a plethora of important injuries to compensate for. Lukaku wants to be the main man and in the squad we've assembled its clear he's not close to that level. If he would rather go play for a second rate team and not push himself against the best, (and by not signing an extension that is an indication that this is likely the scenario) then he's already proven to me long before he's stepped onto the pitch that he's not proper Chels. The board have done a fantastic job turning wantaways(Mata, DeBruyne) into gold and I trust they have targets in mind should Romelu go. The key here for me is he has two yrs left on his deal so its imperative we lock him down this summer or risk not getting true value on the dollar. Haven't heard a whisper about an extension and all the talk from Lukaku is he wants to go elsewhere... Whether he stays and learns from one of the best or he goes is not my concern because the success of this club doesn't hinge on him being in the squad. We were missing goals last year and addressed that in a major way with Costa. Drogba coming back gives us an added dimension we also didn't have even if only 20mins left in the game. We also strengthened in other areas and will have Matic from the start of the season along side Fab... Honestly guys if Lukaku doesn't see himself fighting for his place and the badge don't let the door hit you on the way out. My concern is we get a decent price for him and reinvest it into the development of our squad.
  5. I don't know why people are so adamant in the stance that Chelsea chose Drogba over Lukaku? Lukaku has 2yrs left on his deal and long before anyone even mentioned Drogba was hinting to leaving the club. If he doesn't sign an extension this summer he's forced our hand, we can't go into the last year of a deal without having an extension signed. Having said that Jose and the board aren't idiots if Lukaku goes out someone will almost assuredly come in, it may not be in this window but no doubt at some point. What's the rush?
  6. Window isn't shut yet. Also this deal is far from being consummated.
  7. Love Oscar but he's not a dominant force in the middle. The closest we have to what I'm speaking of is Matic but Pogba is just more dynamic.
  8. Not exactly what I mean. Speaking more in terms of the spine of the team and how important the midfield is to building a foundation. The one example I can use to explain what I mean is City and Yaya... That team is built around his dominating presence in the midfield.
  9. If he doesn't want to sign an extension then it makes perfect sense to sell. I'm just hoping its for more than £19m didn't we buy him for 18m?
  10. Oh it does! He's a fantastic player, the type you can build a foundation around, we don't have a player like that at the club.
  11. Not entirely up to Chelsea at this point. He hasn't signed an extension if that continues this is the last window where we can truly capitalize on a sale.
  12. We will see! I'm not letting go till the window shuts or Juve re-sign. Still have a bit of a ways to go before that!
  13. Depends. If Lukaku is sold and Drogba was brought in as a replacement I wouldn't be over the moon. If Lukaku is sold and Drogba was brought in as a replacement and the club reinvest the money from the sale into buying Pogba then I will have NO problem. While I'd rather Lukaku than Torres as a fall back plan, we can address the secondary striker position another time. There are no guarantees Lukaku will ever fit the bill as our 1st choice striker so selling him now and getting Pogba as a result would be excellent.
  14. I'd say the one where we need an injection of energy up front in a 2-1 game? Or perhaps a game where we are up 2,3 goals and need to get him some time? He's best as a change of pace if you ask me, also as a late game finisher. Stop looking at competitions! Its about form and situations! There will be times where he will be called upon and its up to him to make the most of the opportunities
  15. He'll be fine in a limited role. Even if he only makes a handful of appearances his presence in the locker room and as a figurehead at the club is immense. We need more leaders within the squad, a few months ago people were struggling to find the name of the next chelsea captain, well, this may help in the character department. Sometimes you need good examples to follow before you emerge a leader.
  16. Marin was signed before we won the Cup, he was our fall back plan should we not be able to attract big names. Moses made no sense though...
  17. Only because in 2012 we addressed a fair few more! Lacked creativity.
  18. Its horses for courses dude. No one is guaranteed to start any game regardless of the competition. There are situations that will favour Torres, same for Lukaku and other that will favour Drogba. Its not about 1st choice/2nd choice and never was really.
  19. I must be one of the few Chelsea supporters left who still likes Ramires.
  20. Well of course! But that would have to be a 'knock your socks off' offer and I don't see it happening. Every player has a sell point...
  21. It would be more likely if Vidal himself wanted to go but with him vehemently denying he's tempted to go and with Juve having their own ambitions as a club it seems less likely that he will leave. That should open the door for Pogba though!
