  1. Double spoiler isn't working for me. The world doesn't care how many people are killed in the Middle East/Northern Africa and by what methods as long as it's not Americans or Israel doing the killing.
  2. ISIS testing the waters in Lebanon now. http://news.yahoo.com/lebanon-army-fights-expel-syria-linked-gunmen-border-121440474.html Read the comments by member Curious.
  3. Good grief. If the translation is real that guy is an idiot of the highest order. The last Israeli alive in the C&C bunker would turn the Middle East into a radioactive wasteland.
  4. How do you propose getting there then? I proposed a way (I believe) to get to exactly that, but you found it untenable.
  5. I talk about Hamas because they're in power now. I won't lie and claim to be a scholar on the conflict, but I'm semiliterate, mostly of the Israeli interpretation of it as an American. What I'm saying is that continuing on the same path will lead to your children and grandchildren suffering in the same way you are now; that militarily right now, the Palestinians are in a position of being annihilated. For their sake why not attempt peace on Israeli terms that may hurt now but may provide them a future free of the suffering they're experiencing now? If Palestine stops fighting and in return asks for Gaza to be rebuilt. That they ask for adequate schools and hospitals, education for the young and trade skills for adults given a priority. All American Presidents at the end of their terms are looking for a legacy. Obama would do anything to be able to claim peace in the Middle East came on his watch. The rest of the West would fall in line to help. The pressure on Israel would be too great not to go along. Since this is a Chelsea forum, I'll end it this way: At some time we need to stop reliving history and start making it.
  6. No I wouldn't. I've already stated the difference is cultural. I would be hunting Hamas leadership for putting my family in a situation to be slaughtered for little gain other than photo-ops to show how mean Israel is. Pragmatism is better than pride in this instance. Look at Japan and Germany. They were vanquished people with occupiers living amongst them. Where are they now, where would you think they would be if their response had been to form an insurgency?
  7. It's a cultural difference. Here, if you start a fight, (we're not talking about historical root causes) you reap the consequences, whatever they may be. Don't start a fight you can't win. Don't shoot junk rockets homemade rockets at a first world military power and then [redacted] that they're hitting you back with first world military equipment and it's not fair. People seem to not understand that they are responsible for the actions of their leaders. If your leaders are leading you to ruination then the fight starts with them. I think a lot of the posters here are young, and only have experiance of the modern attempt at limiting warfare with "smart weapons" against military targets and infrastructure while attempting to spare civilians and think this is the norm, and the way it has always been. The US has a huge older population that grew up in the wake of the Second World War when Total War was the way war was fought, and everyone under the flag of the enemy was the enemy when bombs were used. (Dresden, the Blitz on London, and Hiroshima and Nagasaki come to mind.) Seeing the comments here about how Israel is only making Hamas stronger makes me wonder if Israel will decide to take the Total War approach someday to end it once and for all.
  8. ISIS is getting more outrageous by the day. Fines or death to Christians http://www.kesq.com/news/facing-fines-or-death-christians-flee-mosul/27040110 Burning down 1800 year old church. http://english.alarabiya.net/en/News/2014/07/20/ISIS-burns-1-800-year-old-church-in-Mosul.html
  9. Do any of those streams work on an android tablet?
