I'm sorry but that reason is a bit cliche. Sure, some of these lesser sides can cause the odd shock here and there but they are mostly poor, especially when they don't really have to beat strong teams to get into the group stage.

No doubt the lineup will be... Begovic Ivanovic--Cahill/Zouma--Terry--Azpi Fabregas--Matic Pedro/Willian--Oscar--Hazard Costa

Really hard to judge the win tonight given quality of opposition and we didn't play well either. That said, welcome the win and clean sheet. Loftus-Cheek was definitely the MOTM. Ran the show from midfield and coped with the game extremely well after picking up that early YC. And also pleased to see 2 proper full backs playing in proper positions. Looked much more threatening in attack, especially on the left and think Hazard would have enjoyed/liked that.

Only got caught offside 1 time tonight. Improvement.

Poor first half really despite having that 2-0 lead. I know confidence isn't high right now but Maccabi Tel-Aviv were so bad and we got dragged down to their level. Barely created any clear cut chances. Attacking play was ponderous, slow and players not on the same page. We also looked defensively dodgy on 1-2 occasions but luckily weren't punished.

The atmosphere last night at the Etihad Stadium was really appalling. Man City played one of the European giants in the Champions League and their fans were so hopelessly quiet, making the stadium like a library or cemetery. It was so bad and embarrassing.

Only if he does it against Arsenal. Regardless of our form, he was always going to rotate players against Maccabi Tel-Aviv anyway. Him "dropping" a few players tomorrow doesn't mean much. He would be making more of a statement if he drops them against Arsenal, which I doubt he will do.
-
Pretty sure Kenedy only got minutes this season because we needed/wanted to get a win in matches and lacked many options. Would certainly welcome changes against Arsenal but I doubt it.

Guardian's preview piece suggests Maccabi Tel-Aviv could start with a back 3/5 - http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/sep/15/chelsea-maccabi-tel-aviv-champions-league-match-preview(Mourinho, of course, also hinted at that possibility in his presser)
-
Mikel or Ramires will probably start in a 4-3-3, since Oscar isn't fully fit and Pedro is out injured.
-
Has a minor thigh problem according to the Guardian - http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/sep/15/chelsea-maccabi-tel-aviv-champions-league(third paragraph in article)

They probably need to score a hat-trick for that to happen. Knowing Mourinho's pragmatic nature, he won't play a youngster and one who is still adapting in a new league against one of the big sides and in a game where we desperately need to win.
-
No doubt for one game only and everything will be back to normal against Arsenal.
-
So because of that, he was great? And I wasn't even criticizing him for anything.
-
But Allegri wasn't wrong to complain, was he? He wanted Cuadrado to get to the corner flag rather than trying to win free kicks by diving etc. To say 'superb' is OTT really. He was decent but nothing more. Many criticized him for being a poor player when he played for us but after 1 decent game for Juventus, people are like moaning why we let him leave.
-
At this rate, England are going to lose that 4th Champions League spot pretty soon. Italy aren't far behind in the coefficient ranking.
-
That is true but like it or not, with Mourinho, he comes with an unwanted baggage and that has proved to be troublesome on more than one occasion.
-
Here's something interesting... (and yes, I'm shamelessly promoting my own account...)
-
-
No disrespect to Maccabi Tel-Aviv but if we can't even beat them at home despite our form, then I think I'm gonna lose it.
-
Really? Mourinho was selective in his presser. Mentioned the trophies he won but conveniently ignored those off-the-pitch problems that occured between him and the board or players, which of course led him to being sacked/leaving the club. On the other hand, he arguably showed more fight and desire in the presser than the players have been on the pitch recently.

That really doesn't the tell whole story when you see the mistakes picked out by Gary Neville on MNF.
