  1. Yes, IF he is not happy the club should let him leave. He would cats a negative influence over the team if he stayed against his wishes. He is very important to the club, I heard Brendan Rodgers say he often helps take training with the reserves and academy sides.
  2. I agree, and only playing lots of games is going to improve him, so you're spot on with that point. I think 16/17 goals is a reasonable target for him season, but I have every confidence he will exceed that if he had already netted five with a quarter of the campaign gone. I would say he could get 20, but with him going to the ACoN, he will miss a fair amount of games.
  3. For me, its Lampard, Terry, Drogba and Cech that are the only players who are likely to start every match. Grant plays Essien often enough, but he's rested him when he can.
  4. Of course, you can't fault the boy's talent. IF the opportunity arises to sign him, we'd be fools not to bid for him, as he is one of Europes' finest.
  5. That was Petr. It was away to Bolton on April 30 2005, when we won the league
  6. This game is on Sky, so remember you can watch it on Sky.com for a small fee
  7. Yeah, I can't wait for it. I also think we should make some preview threads for reserve matches, perhaps a subforum in the match chat forum? Would add some much needed interest, the reserves don't get much attention.
  8. Maybe he can, but he would essentially be kicking out either Essien, Mikel or Ballack from the team.
  9. Quite true. I feel soon, Kalou will be putting away even more chances. He is a good player and has bene cracking so far this season. My only concern is that he is missing some glorious chances, the Derby game being a good example when he ballooned over. A more experienced striker would have buried it, I wish these kind of things would fall for Shevchenko.
  10. Quite true about the first thing But if these reports are correct, it would seem to me that there is a lot of interest for Clarke, and that the club are determined to keep a hold of him. However, it could also mean that he has threatened to walk, and the club want him to stay. I'm not sure, but expect an official announcement on Chelsea TV sometime soon.
  11. His profile? You mean he is too much of a media darling? LMAO, Mourinho is the worst culprit for that
  12. What do you think are Cech's top five saves in a Chelsea jersey? For me:1. vs. Tottenham, 2004. Robbie Keane's point blank header looks destined for the net, only for a pure reaction save by Cech to first the ball away.2. vs. Liverpool, 2007. Steven Gerrard's wonderful volley from Mikel's poor clearance looked a certain goal, only for Cech to spread himself and save low down.3. vs. Portsmouth, 2004. Cech's save from Nigel Quashie's swerving effort had all six feet, six inches of the Czech goalkeeper's frame strained, and an outstretched arm saved Chelsea.4. vs. Arsenal, 2007. Julio Baptista's rocket shot in the Carling Cup final tested our big goalkeepr, but he dived well to his right to push the balla way with his left hand. Show off!5. vs. Blackburn, 2005. Cech's penalty save from Paul Dickov ensured he broke Petr Schmichael's record of minutes unbeaten in the Premier League. He went 1025 minutes - three months of football - before picking the ball out of his goal.
  13. OMFG this was the greatest game of all time!
  14. Well, not playing is not helping his confidence. Mr Grant seems to prefer Drogba and Kalou over him. BUT he should be playing regularly during the ACoN. Hopefully, he can show his worth then. Its the only chance I can ever see him getting.
  15. I was worried on Saturday. I was watching the match on Setanta, and he just sat on the bench throughout. I hope he isn't going to leave.
  16. Let's get this straight - the player is past his peak. He was at his peak at the same time as Sheva, in 2005. So we'd be risking another flop if we bring him in for big money. I'd prefer to buy him now because he's played for Barcelona in the CL, so his valuation will be decreased as he is cup tied. But, he can play anywhere. I'm worried that this might be the starting pistol for Joe Cole to leave.
  17. Who hasn't ? All I'm saying is that if it was another manager, they'd have moaned.
  18. Oh I see, its from the way you used the word 'just' suggested so. No worries
  19. Chelsea FC versus West Ham UnitedIn-form Chelsea welcome fellow high-flyers West Ham United to Stamford Bridge, in this weekend's early kick-off. Hernan Crespo celebrates scoring the second Chelsea goal in their 4-1 win over West Ham in April 2006Following West Ham's hard-earned draw with Tottenham, the Hammers are in formidable form, having won and drawn three each of their last half-dozen matches. Chelsea themselves are slightly better off in the same period, with four wins and a couple of draws.Whilst West Ham have struggled for league consistency, a 5-0 thrashing of Derby County prior to the international break and progress to the last eight of the Carling Cup has earned many accolades for Alan Curbishley's side, who were dealt a double by Chelsea last season. The then-Champions defeated West Ham 1-0 at Stamford Bridge courtesy of a Geremi free-kick, and thrashed the Hammers in their own back yard 1-4, with Shaun Wright-Phillips, Salomon Kalou and Didier Drogba scoring the goals. You can read the match report to arguably Chelsea's finest performance of the 06/07 campaign by clicking this link. With the three afore-mentioned players in hot form - Kalou and Wright-Phillips scoring in Chelsea's last Premier League match - West Ham are likely to feature a defence-minded formation at Stamford Bridge. Both teams have been watertight in defence, having conceded just 9 (Chelsea) and 11 (West Ham) in their league matches this season. Yet both teams have found goals hard to come by, with 40 goals scored between the two teams in a 21:19 ratio in favour of Chelsea. Will Frank Lampard see off his former team? Will West Ham's Robert Green spoil the party by continuing his astonishing form in goal? Or will Salomon Kalou and company ensure that the Hammers return to Upton Park hammered? Discuss here!Watch Geremi's stunning freekick settle last season's corresponing fixture
  20. Yup. We were complacent, I feel, in the first match, plus things weren't working out for us at that time. We've managed to turn things around, but this team are no pushovers, as I alreadys aid. But, its all fine and dandy beating Valencia a couple of times, but we have to remember that Valencia are having a bit of a torrid time as well, and are nowhere near as good as they were last season. That's why I feel we will take six points from our next two Euro games.
  21. I agree, exactly. 14 goals for the season is a respectable total. People were expecting instant return for the £30 million, expecting 30+ goals from Sheva, which isn't fair. If I remember correctly, Sheva had 9 assists in the 06/07 campaign, which is 23 goals he had a significant part in.
  22. Hats off to Mark Hughes. In the Fulham/Blackburn game yesterday, Fulham's equaliser was offside, but instead of moaning about it, Sparky was honest. I wa slistening on Five Live and he referred to the match at the Bridge where Kalou "scored," and remembered Blackburn earned a point they did not deserve. So hats off to the bloke, if his position was exchanged with Arsehole Wanker or Sir Alex Fuckyou-Sir, we'd hear no end of moaning.
  23. Top point. Gerrard gave that freekick to himself.
  24. I agree. With each game that passes, he is losing more confidence and fans are losing more patience. They are already beginning to get on his back, and I feel sorry for the man. He is human, afterall.
