  1. Each to their own, I'm not arguing either way, I'm simply saying Anelka is doing the business - a striker is meant to score goals and he is doing that this season. Furthermore, what little we have so far seen of DD11 this season has shown he really isn't up for it, but I suppose he has yet to have had the run in the side he needs to get going. However, its nice to have these selection problems, don't you think?
  2. Granted, and if we could match his wages I'm sure we'd have a case, but do we want to spend such a large amount on Robinho when we should be going after even better players, like Benzema?
  3. Buying a player of this calibre for nothing is a step in the right direction if this club wants to start making a positive turnover.
  4. A draw would actually not be the worst result, in my opinion.
  5. Drogba's physicality and Anelka's pace and intelligence are equally as scary for defenders IMO.
  6. I'm sure you mean the one from Ryan Giggs in the CL final?
  7. Robinho will stay for the wages they are paying him even if they finish in the bottom half, I guess.
  8. I think he broke his leg, TB, which would explain the absence. Apparently Milan are after him: http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=940156
  9. Oh shit, the grammar in that is shocking in places
  10. I love the way he marches away then puts his hands on his head
  11. I disagree, his goal against Stoke won us the game, effectively, and many of his goals have put us in the comfort zone that have gone on to allow us to express ourselves.
  12. You're just being nasty, now Well that works two ways - we can rest Drogba against the likes of Bolton, let Anelka grab a couple and everyone is happy.
  13. The only sweets I gave was a packet of wine gums to this little six year old girl who started singing Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer
  14. And soon to come from Spurs: Tottenham 7 Tottenham Ladies Under 10s Reserves 7 4-1 down at half-time, witness the glory of Tottenham's friendly draw against their all-conquering Ladies Under 10s Reserves side. A first-half hat trick from Jade Goody put the Under 10s 3-0 up with less than 20 minutes played, before Aaron Lennon struck home with a spectacular, technically amazing volley from on the goal-line that went in off the bar, that left the capacity crowd of 17 at White Hart Lane speechless. However, referee Gary Glitter pointed to the spot in first-half stoppage time and Goody converted, firing beyond the despairing dive of Heurelho Gomes to put the Under 10s 4-1 up going in to the interval. Spurs rallied in the second half and drew level with an astonishing period of play. David Bentley fired the home side back into contention with a stunning fluke goal from 40 yards that he actually didn't mean to do, and the Under 10s goalkeeper obviously didn't stand a chance, so in Manuel Almunia fashion, elected to dive backwards and push the ball into the net. Jermaine Jenas made it 4-3 after Lily Savage purposefully slipped over on the half-way line. Jenas dribbled around like a headless chicken, going past tackle after tackle that didn't actually happen, before gloriously toe-poking the ball into the back of the net. The inspirational captain lead his side to glory when Lennon fired home to make it 4-4 after Modric had hit the post on purpose, and then went 6-4 up thanks to two goals from the brilliant Darren Bent, who poked home after the goalkeeper spilled a shot and then headed a cross from Corluka. The Under 10s hit back first through Cilla Black, and then a bizarre finish from The Girl Who Played Hermione In Harry Potter bought the game level. Goody scored her fifth of the game after a racist outburst at the yellow ball caused it to roll away in fear, across the goal line and beyond the bemused Gomes, but she was later taken to hospital after Gomes accidentally punched her in the face when coming to catch the ball. She will not require surgery because doctors said there was a significant improvement. However Spurs were not to be undone and a penalty from Gareth Bale sealed a phenomenal draw - a result that will surely mean glory for Tottenham. 15. Belated regards from me I really should check this forum more often
  16. Spot on, he's young and therefore has many years to improve. He's arguably as good as Robben ever was for us at his best and he has bags of potential.
  17. Tri-Blue's thread ('Bargain Hunting') has made me think of BS as a perfect candidate for a signing. He's young, lightning-quick, is a top crosser of a ball and has a hammer of a shot on him - and it would all be for free as well. Thoughts?
  18. Schweinsteiger is out of contract at Bayern in the summer. We can get him in on a free in January, and then he can join us in June. Would be a class signing.
  19. At the end of the day, strikers are judged on their goals scored. If Anelka nets 20 + this season, it would be impossible to deny that he has had a top season - if all his goals are tap ins then we can be thankful we have a forward with fantastic instincts.
  20. I think on paper, Drogba is the better striker but Anelka is certainly doing the business this season. I admit he goes missing at times but he has scored nine goals already and that is nothing to be sniffed at. I doubt Anelka and Drogba would be partnered up front considering our formation is working brilliantly, although I could see the formation changed very slightly in that we keep the 4-1-4-1, but instead of having the two free players acting as wide men, we could draft them behind Drogba and go for what would be a 4-1-2-2-1 formation, with Anelka and Kalou playing off Didier, which could be a tactic we could use when we are chasing the game, but otherwise, I would go with Drogba, but having Anelka is certainly a top option - if both could get 20 goals this season, it would help us no end.
  21. Aye, I take back what I said, it shows not everything they print is pure crap. However, they have assumed the only reason we have got rid of the scouts is to reduce the amount of money spent, but sacking 15 people who earn less than 100K per year isn't going to save much more than £1.5 million per annum.
  22. Have a safe time, everyone. Rome is an absolutely stunning place, and I wish everyone who goes there has a safe and enjoyable trip, but do be careful, the Italian police don't take any shit.
  23. I think he signed a four year deal when he arrived in 2006, which means he is in his last year of contract next season. Don't quote me on that though.
  24. Yeah, a lot of the credit to Terry, Carvalho and company, without them Cech wouldn't be on 100 right now - just think of all the goalline clearances that Cole and Terry have done over the last couple of seasons, and the blocks that the likes of Riccy and Alex have made as well.
