Sunderland's Titus Bramble arrested over rape claim Sunderland footballer Titus Bramble has been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman in a Newcastle hotel. The Premier League defender and a second man were arrested at the Vermont Hotel early on Wednesday and are being questioned by detectives. The 29-year-old was arrested after a call was made to the police by a woman in her 20s. Sunderland Football Club has so far not commented. Bramble joined the club from Wigan in the summer. A spokesman for Northumbria Police said two men, aged 29 and 30, were arrested on suspicion of rape. Chelsea FC have today confirmed the squad numbers of four more academy players who will be involved with the first team this season. Billy Clifford and Jacob Mellis - two players who Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed will be on the bench for tomorrow's game against Newcastle - have been given the numbers 47 and 52 respectively. Additionally, young goalkeeper Sam Walker has been given the number 54, and he is joined by Czech custodian Jan Sebek, who takes the number 61 shirt.
