I'll keep this open until I log in tomorrow morning... though atm it looks as if Zolayes could become the first back-to-back winner of the award!!!
-
I have high hopes for Kane, I see him as Chelsea's equivalent of someone like Leighton Baines; a very, very good attacking full-back.
-
You can't compare these two because they're totally different breeds of strikers. However, Wellbeck will score more goals this season.
-
I thought it was this: "Calling your penis Torres because you can't score." "Calling your penis Kalou because you can't even dribble."
-
Maybe they were fed up of being robbed? Fact of the matter is, they're a great club, if I was a professional footballer and I had the chance to play for Liverpool, I'd sign for them. I'd definitely score seven own-goals when they play Chelsea though.
-
You're the only one that does, even his mother hates him.
-
They're German citizens, and they play for Germany, so don't be so pedantic - it's not as if they are natives of Mars.
-
Daily Fail strikes again. I remain more keen to sign de Bruyne than Modric.
-
Last season's 4-2 here was one of the most entertaining games I've seen for a long time. Added in with the hysteria of signing Torres and Luiz, it was a wonderful February evening for us, especially after getting revenge for that-game-that-shall-not-be-mentioned. By the way, Torres has a good record against Sunderland, so if he is going to break his duck, this will be a good chance.

Done, for you both. Your log-in credentials have not changed.

I voted for zolayes as well, I found it a particularly difficult choice as I think all five would be worthy winners.

Liverpool next up in the League Cup!
BlueLion. replied to BlueLion.'s topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Possibly, although it's nice to see as many English players as possible at any one time. -
Remember football fans are fickle. If we are level on points with United at the end of April of course we will talk our chances up. Keep the faith, but keep grounded as well, as this team is by no means a set of 11 world-beaters.
-
This Chelsea side will again revert to functionality over superb football - this will be a season of grinding out ugly wins. Don't expect many classy performances and certainly don't expect any trophies. This will be a difficult season of transition, and I predict a long, gruelling contest between us and the Manchester clubs will most likely see us come off the worst. There's no shame in being the best of the rest though.
-
I think we will, at a cut-price as well. Meireles is a perfect squad player, he's a better option than Benayoun, in my opinion. He's versatile and a classy player with a lot of guile. Plus, not signing Modric/Moutinho means game time for McEachran, which in itself is like seeing a £30 million player come to the club.
-
Wonderful read, I think that was published in early 2008. Brings back some memories and also some highlights I was never blessed enough to see. Thankfully plenty more are to come.

We should be going more English, if anything. Bertrand, Sturridge and McEachran is a good start, mind,

What Lampard's England exclusion does for Chelsea...
BlueLion. replied to Superblue's topic in Matthew Harding Stand
Lampard should have done what Scholes did after the World Cup. The problem is - he is far too proud and will always make himself available to England. Thankfully, the fact he is being phased out by Capello thanks to the emergence of Wilshere and Cleverly, and both Barry and Parker re-establishing themselves on the international scene, his call-ups will soon be few and far-between, much like Beckham. Capello is doing both England and Chelsea a favour, which is something that pains me to say as a Lampard supporter. -
Lukaku and Bertrand out of the UCL squad.
BlueLion. replied to Peace.'s topic in Matthew Harding Stand
I can only sympathise with Lukaku, but especially with Bertrand. We've sold Yury Zhirkov and let Patch go out on loan, promoting him to second in the left-back pecking order. But instead of getting experience against Bayer Leverkusen and Valencia in the final two group stage games, he'll be playing reserve fixtures at Griffin Park. My support in AVB has decreased dramatically. Youth integration? Is it fuck, it's the same overpaid, underperforming has-beens. -
I agree, to some extent. We have a small chance of winning the league, as I believe the Manchester clubs are ahead of us. I'm not being negative, I'm being realistic. They have greater strength-in-depth, and the worrying thing is both sides already have a handful of players firing in goals from all angles - whereas our joint-top scorer is José Bosingwa.
-
I have confidence in the team, but I'm also being realistic. Our squad is not as strong as either of the two Manchester clubs; their strength-in-depth far exceeds ours whilst we are in this period of transition between the Old Guard of Lampard, Terry and Drogba and enter the New Era of Mata, Ramires, Lukaku et al. I firmly believe we are by some distance one of the three best teams in the country - if we do win this league, it won't be down to our strength-in-depth, but my belief our starting line-up is as good as City's and United's, if rather more functional and a great attacking side. Ultimately, a second or third place finish seems the most likely result for us. United remain the team to beat, whilst it remains to be seen if City can maintain their great start. Either way, Arsenal and Tottenham are no threat to us - I believe our worst-case scenario is finishing fourth behind Liverpool. Like I say, I'm not being negative or pessimistic, I'm being realistic about the chances we have with this squad.

POLL'S UP
-
I've said this elsewhere - seriously, what the fuck, AVB? Sure, put Kalou and Ferreira in the for the knockout rounds for their experience, no need for them in the group stage when we're already through.
-
Portuguese Liga fans will back me up here - Meireles was deployed as a CDM in 09/10, alternating with Fernando. Meaning we have an attacking CDM to replace Essien.
