What should happen is either a Premier League loan or even have him on the bench for the first team. But knowing Chelsea, what will likely happen is that he'll be sent out again on loan to the Championship for a year or two and stagnate from there on.

Rösler: "This is a big scoop or us. There's no doubt Josh is a huge young talent, and we have worked really hard to convince him and Chelsea this is the right place for him to be for the rest of the season," "I thank everyone for their efforts in making the move happen." "Hopefully, we will be able to help each other, he can bring something to our team and we can help in the development of one of the country's finest young talents."
-
For the sake of his development he needs to leave Chelsea as soon as possible.

McEachran looked an exciting prospect in the Champions League and then average in the Championship. The system these lads are playing in is very important when gauging their ability, and the style of play in the Championship is hardly conducive to that.
-
I seriously doubt it.
-
You can't judge a player by how well they did in the Championship. Barkley was unimpressive, while Zaha tore it apart. Now look at them.
-
His loan has ended, he has returned to Chelsea.
-
The loan deals for young players are there to get them used to consequential football, not to turn them from academy players into Premier League ones. It time to start easing Chalobah into the first team with games here and there, as was begun with Josh and then abandoned. Barkley never impressed in the Championship either, now look at him.
-
Assuming he would want to move abroad, which England players unfortunately seldom do.
-
Scored against Millwall tonight.

McEachran looks average in the Championship at 20 yet looked at home in the Champions League at 17/18. It's difficult to judge midfield players in the Championship because to thrive they need good players around them, and they just don't have that down there. Barkley wasn't impressive in the Championship, and there were a few Wednesday fans complaining about the manager sticking with him, then he comes back to the Premier League and was Everton's best player in a match against Arsenal. You don't know how players will perform in a Premier League environment until you throw them into one, and ff you're going to let careers live or die based how well a player does in the Championship, then you're going to be pissing talent down the drain left, right and centre.

Chelsea are fantastic at developing players right up until the crucial 17-21 phase when they need first team football. It's a phase when you have to take risks if you want rewards down the line, risks which Chelsea, with all the money, are not willing to take. It's not like McEachran was even a liability, he did not look out of place in Champions League games and kept the team ticking over just fine. If managers had shown faith in him he could have been a semi-regular member of the first team by now, instead he's barely progressed in the last two years.
-
McEachran's development was ruined by Chelsea after Ancelotti left. He had faith in Josh, he played him and got his rewards, since then it's all been stagnation. He should have left a year or two ago but as things stands he'll probably be jettisoned next year or the year after to a Championship side. He won't make it at Chelsea now, no chance. I fear for Chalobah too, frankly.

Just scored against Yeovil.
-
Josh McEachran received a match rating of 5.5 from @WhoScored after yesterday's game, the lowest of any Watford or Derby player.
-
He's ready, no doubt in my mind. Much like Barkley, and perhaps more so, McEachran needs good players around him to flourish.
-
Missed out on a place in the England U21 squad. Chalobah is in.
-
Missed out on an England U21 call-up. Hope it's just because he's trying to negotiate his loan move.
-
Morrison aside, maybe...
-
The Sociedad move looks more likely. Seems like Dos Santos will be staying at Barca.
-
The speculation is that McEachran would be an alternative to Dos Santos, as that deal seems to have stalled.
-
Spanish media reporting that Real Sociedad are in for McEachran.

Josh isn't going to make it at Chelsea. I think we just need to accept that. I watched him today and he was too lethargic off the ball and too sloppy on it. He may be able to cut the mistakes out of his game with time, but time isn't something that Chelsea are going to give him.
