  1. I think consistency in manager is a little less critical when you have the bankroll that Chelsea does, but I'm certainly hoping AVB can stick around a little longer than the others have.
  2. Not a walkover, but it ought to be a win. Actually Stoke strikes me as a good team to play in an opener. The boys should be ready to get after it. Facing Stoke either right before or right after a Liverpool or United would be worse.
  3. With a nod to Fulham Broadway, talented fool were the words that spring to mind. For my purposes, he is entertaining. If I were playing against him, I'd be pissed. You do stuff like that and you open yourself up for some pretty hard tackles or worse.
  4. So ... two matches and two dubious goals to show for it. OK. It's a friendly. AVB is still putting things together, but its awfully hard to feel very good about this when the opponent gave up 10 goals in its previous two. Hope they have Aug 14 circled on the calendar very brightly. There is much to be done.
  5. Manchester United and Liverpool are obvious. Still I love seen that Wenger go nuts. Hoping for a solid beat down of the Gunners so our boy can give us a show.
  6. One of the aspects of sports that has really left me cold is the corporate-sponsored stadium names. Here in the good ole U.S, I think I got a lot more jaded when my Riverfront Stadium (in Cincinnati, Ohio) became Cinergy Field (named after an energy company). All that's left here are the stadiums so historical that they can't get away with it.
  7. As tough as it was to watch it last year, I'd think we ought to take a breath and see what happens. Torres has had a few months to put things behind him. You've got the new manager who will come in with his own schemes. It should be just the fresh start he needs. It's going to happen anyway, so I'll be optimistic until its proven otherwise.
  8. I'm not a violent man, but if I could catch up to hackers I'd make an exception. I appreciate your efforts admins.
  9. This is a match that I'll actually get to see over here. I'm looking forward to it.
  10. As long as they stand. great pubs are never lost forever. Sometimes idiots own them for awhile and change stuff. Then they lose them and someone else comes in and has the wisdom to restore them to their former glory.
  11. Last year I got the expanded sports tier on my tv setup. It was primarily so I could see certain ice hockey games, but it gave me the chance to see some of your Premier League contests in high definition. Obviously, I liked what I saw and am ready for more this year. Seems the barons of the telly like to show a lot of Manchester United and Chelsea (go figure). It may sound silly, but I like Chelsea's colors and logo better and started following them over your buddies from up north. I'll probably leave most of the expert commentary to those that actually know something about it, but will try to interject if I think I've got something worthwhile. Good luck to the club in Asia and here's to a good season.
