I see what Sarri did by picking Emerson for the Europa league match midweek I guess Malonso is going to be starting the PL games from now on. Possibly at Old Trafford as well.

The one reason for me to be angry at Conte. We struggled a lot to get a lethal striker like Costa after going through old Eto', injured Torres, Pato,etc.. And he just gets rid of him without giving much thought

We can compete, but definitely not tonight. One team played like a title chaser, and the other played like a team just trying to sneak into top 4. Our indifferent form following that City game last year led us to this. Chelsea, I thought played well, especially after getting rid of the false 9 formation..but a title chasing Chelsea and Hazard would have definitely buried those second half chances. Face it, everything was against us in this game, from the stupid commentators to the media to the crowd. The Salah goal was spectacular. We were part of some one else's narrative today, so let's just forget about this game and focus on the remaining PL and Europa games. I just hope Rudiger is back again soon.

Not sure why people are getting all worked up over this result. We shouldn't have been banking on this game against a title chasing team to get into top 4 in the first place. And frankly the result has not taught us anything new. If at all it just taught some fans that CHO is not going to be 'THE solution' for us in the future. At least, not immediately. Liverpool are superior at the moment. Yes false 9 was a gamble for this game, taking in-form Hazard out of his best position and that backfired, but that's something Sarri had to do accommodate both CHO and Willian, who in all fairness was superior to CHO in this game. I was already expecting this result. To me the league is still not done for us yet. As long as we don't throw away points till we get to the Old Trafford game we still have a chance. Then everything depends on that game. Hope they don't do something foolish and throw all eggs into the Europa league basket, which will boil down to the outcome of one game (the final) should we even make it there,

Sigh...so true. I've said it before and say it again... In our team, our national team players are benched in favor of players who are 3'rd or 4th choice for their countries. Same Chelsea that used to boast about having around 5-6 national team captains in the starting 11 every game.

So true. Barkley has put in fantastic performances against Europa league opposition as well. I really want RLC to climb up the pecking order instead....even if Barkley is the more established of the two.

I really hope Chelsea act on Thorgan sooner rather than later...would have been a more sensible signing compared to Pulisic. Can't stand the thought of Liverpool, City or any other PL club signing a player that ought to start for us. EDIT: Also correct me if I'm wrong, we still have first buy option on Thorgan, right?

I agree,...he doesn't seem like he is concerned about long term atm. Right now Sarri seems to be mostly about Sarri. And seeking retribution from the press for criticizing his tactics and selection.

The most idiotic question i've heard Chelsea fans ask these days about Hazard: "If he wanted to stay, why wouldn't he have signed a contract by now?" Really? When its not certain that the club is going to play in the CL next season? For the 2nd time in a row? Why would someone of his caliber want to bet everything on that...you have players like Delli Alli playing against elite European competition, while Hazard has to salvage a draw against Wolves. The only players who we can easily convince to sign contracts at this point, are your Marcos Alonsos and over the hill players like Luiz. The only exception to the rule is Kante, who we duped earlier on in the season, when the situation was not so bad.

Honestly...even Sarri's most staunch supporters won't be able to give a good excuse for this nonsense from him. Even if CHO regularly came on as a sub in every game that would still be good. He just leaves him out in several games, and complains that he has too many wingers to choose from.

My one concern with this signing, is that he fits the bill of all our typical Chelsea attacker/midfield signings. Plenty of skill...not much end product. We've gone after a lot of flashy players to fit the 'style' of football we want, but with very little substance. Kovacic is a prime example. ...anyway, anything can still happen. So here' hoping.

Chelsea should really consider signing up Thorgan before someone else tries to catch us off guard.

One difference between Sarri and AVB though... AVB at least tried to chop, change and rotate his squad. (Even though it was a bad idea at the time) Sarri keeps playing the same unmotivated players, again and again.

This.... I've said it before...... the players, despite whatever crap they feed to the press, aren't playing for Sarri. Yes, they follow Sarri's instructions in terms of general tactics, but they are not fighting for him. As far as Sarri is considered, the guy has achieved nothing close to what they've achieved in football, in terms of trophies. No matter how 'nice' our guys are, they will always have a certain level of arrogance. Someone like David Luiz has a champions league medal. What does Sarri have at this point? That's why Sarri can't motivate his players for ordinary league games. The players have to end up motivating themselves. Think about it. After the City league 6-0, what PL games have we performed in? Just the one Spurs game following the Carling cup loss, just to send a message to the media and everyone else. Every other league game has been a crapfest, dull affair. Its not entirely Sarri's fault per se, but this is why a manager like Sarri or AVB will find it tough to succeed here. You need people who are leaders and proven winners, like Pep, to totally convince these kinds of players to give it their all. Either that, or a massive amount of luck.
