  1. I never said Bentley was pacey! There is more to a winger than pace, Bentley has amazing crossing ability which none of our wingers have. SWP and Malouda have pace, but they haven't performed, so ship them out and try and get a pacey winger like Quaresma etc... That way we have a good mixture of talent amongst our wide men and it gives us different options.
  2. Ballack was one of our best players last year and he's probably been the best player in Euro 2008. Hurry up and sign the contract!!
  3. Robinho would be awful in the PL, the kid has no muscle on him what so ever and would be bullied off the ball. I don't really think Ronaldinho is a pacey winger, but I suppose he could be good. I forgot about Ribery and Quaresma actually, I can't see Ribery coming this summer cause of his injury but I've always rated Quaresma quite highly. I still think we need someone with good delievery, so I would still like us to get Bentley. Maybe we could ship out Malouda then and bring in one of the players you mentioned.
  4. The problem is who is there? Ok, Messi and Ronaldo but they're unlikely to come to us.
  5. The transfer window hasn't opened yet, it opens on July 1st. Anyway, like others have said we need the creative edge in our attacking play. We have too many hard-tackling type players like Essien in the centre of the pitch so someone with a bit of flair and creativity is needed there. I personally would go for Van Der Vaart. Deco is getting on a bit and his lack of strength would mean he would get bullied off the ball too much in the PL. Tbh, I think our wingers are fine - they just can't cross to save their lives! SWP needs to go, end of. So let's just bring in one replacement for SWP, I say David Bentley; English, a great crosser of the ball, young, enthusiastic and scores goals. Then we need to decide on our forwards. It really depends on the formation we play, if we stick to 4-3-3 then Drogba can stay and Anelka should leave (and Pizarro) however if we start playing 4-2-2 Drogba and Pizarro should go. Either way we need to bring in another top forward, someone like Villa. Then you just have the problem of keeping Anelka, Sheva, Drogba and Villa all happy! GK - Cech, Carlo, Hilario RB - Bosingwa, Ferriera LB - Cole, Bridge Wingers - Malouda, Bentley, Cole, Kalou CM - Lampard, Ballack, Essien, Van Der Vaart, Mikel, Maka ST - Villa, Drogba, Sheva, Anelka
  6. His only 23!!?? I got the impression he was a lot older than that! He could be ok, I'd still prefer Bentley though.
  7. I never experienced a no-seater stadium cause I'm only 16, but my mum and grandad are always talking about how amazing it was! I'm disappointed that I missed out on it and feel I never really captured the best atmosphere inside football grounds. I have the thinking that if you want to sit down and watch the game, you should stay at home and watch it on your sofa.
  8. I just looked on Wiki at their ages. Pavluchenko is 26 and Arshavin is 27 - not sure about you but I don't think they'll improve much from now. They are probably in their prime thriving off Hiddinks great management.
  9. Ok cheers, are you sure it was Zaragoza cause Zola's was against them? Also do you know the year? EDIT: Don't worry I've found it now. It was 1999 against Bologna. 27,000 people watched the game at Stamford Bridge! http://www.soccerpulse.com/forum/lofiversi...hp/t200620.html Thanks anyway!
  10. His been good so far, but that doesn't mean he'll be good for us. *cough* Baros *cough* Mind you he'll be a million times better than Pizzaro. I'd prefer Arshavin though, he seems a good player.
  11. Arse-Shaving, I mean Arshavin and Sergio Aguero (though he has been briefly mentioned).
  12. Yup and Leeds, United, Liverpool, Tottenham and Barca! His name would be chanted for decades to come...
  13. Is there one strand of hair on his head that isn't covered in gel?
  14. I've been thinking that if we lose Lamps to Inter, would it be all bad? We could change our formation to 4-4-2, which would suit Sheva well and if we bought in Villa he would enjoy working in a 4-4-2 next to Sheva. Anelka is also more suited to this formation. Lampard leaving would mean we could put Essien and Ballack in the middle, which would just be amazing in terms of brute power defensively and offensively. Joe Cole and Malouda, imo, are more suited to the traditional RM and LM positions rather than the ones they play in a 4-3-3. A 4-3-3 means the two wide men are basically playing as wide forwards, which is not suitable for their style of play. So we could have a squad similar to this: GK - Cech, Carlo, Hilario RB - Bosingwa, Paulo/Belletti LB - Cole, Bridge CB - Riccy, JT, Alex, Ivanovic RM - Cole, Bentley/Quaresma LM - Malouda, Kalou CM - Ballack, Essien, Maka, Mikel... ST - Sheva, Villa, Anelka, Sinclair... So offload; Boula, SWP (who wouldn't be suited to 4-4-2 IMO), Drogba (same as SWP), Sidwell and Pizarro And bring in; a RM (Bentley/Quaresma?) and a ST (Villa) But then I think to myself, can I really cope with Lampard leaving Chelsea?
  15. I would refuse to play for Chelsea cause I knew I'd be shit and ruin the game! That aside, however, I'd probably want to play in the 3-0 win over Man you in the 05/06 season! Others like the CWC victory over Stuggart, the 2-0 win at Bolton, the CL semi against Liverpool this just gone season and the CL final would come close.
  16. Ahh, hard luck mate! Lovely weather down on the south coast! I need to get out more!
  17. Exactly! One of the reason football is so beautiful.
  18. You guys gotta remember the weathers getting nicer and people are going outside more!
  19. Bare in mind that we assume he's gonna do well for us! How about the simple 'Scolari' to the 'Vialli' tune?
  20. He got bored of the reds, Sick of the rain, That boy Ronaldo, He fucked off to Spain! Fuck off Ronaldo, Fuck off Ronaldo, Jumpin' on a plane, Flyin' off to Spain, Fuck off Ronaldo! Got them off another forum btw.
  21. Was there ever a Dennis Wise testimonial match? I'm talking about in 1998 or 1999 and believe it was against Besiktas? I want to know cause I think this was my first match that I saw at the Bridge and was the game that made me love football and Chelsea. At the time I was only about 6 or 7 and my grandad, mum and dad took me cause they're life long fans. I just can't remember exactly if it was a testimonial or just a pre-season friendly or something? If someone could confirm this either way I'd be very grateful. Cheers
  22. Well I'm new so I'll make one of these intro threads. A little bit about me: come from south east England, 16 years old, want to become a sports journalist, became a Chelsea fan due to my grandad passing blue blood down to my mum who then passed it on to me. Seems a decent forum, I should be sticking around.
