  1. The world X1 is voted by professional footballers, all 55,000 of them. They obviously live in another world to us. Also, Ashley Cole said in September "Marcelo best left back in the world, last 2 seasons"
  2. SB can't be extended because the laws don't allow it. Because of these laws, we've actually had to reduce capacity and knocking down the hotel won't get around these laws. Earls Court would have been ideal and Nine Elms ok too (which is the land east of Battersea power station that is full of warehouses). White City is a bit too far north but close enough and Oak Common is definitely too far.
  3. ManU drop 8 points by drawing the Everton, Newcastle, Arsenal and Chelsea games. Arsenal drop 8 points by losing against Liverpool, Tottenham and drawing with ManU. We drop 2 points at ManU. We all end up with the same number of points at the end of the season and it is decided by goal difference.
  4. Nice story about his early career
  5. Lampard should retire immediately given his permanent injury. Terry and Cole should do it after the 2012 Euros. It's a shame Terry will never be given the armband even though the newspapers have retracted and apologized for the stories about him and Bridge's ex.
  6. You'll need an Oyster card for both payg or travelcard. If you travel on the tube everyday, get a travelcard.
  7. St Johns Wood is a really nice area.
  8. Daily Mail article about CA thinking of using him as a DM. No quotes in the article but I think he could do well in that role.
  9. There are similar articles in most papers today although each paper names different players. I think this is an attempt to rile up the players ahead of the game on Sunday.
  10. Over the last few years, Arsenal and us have had nearly the same revenue but they have spent 150m repaying the loan on their new stadium and they still have a 150m to go. We don't have a stadium to pay off so we have spent our money on players. I don't see what his problem is with us. Secondly, Arsenal would have made losses if it wasn't for their huge property development business (they build apartments). 2009: 88m revenue from sale of apartments, group profit 45m profit. 2010: 137m revenue from sale of apartments, 56m group profit. Take out the apartments and their losses would have been 2009: -43m, 2010: -81m. In other words, their losses would have been bigger than ours (though not by that much). All because we haven't gone into the property development business.
  11. I think we are fine. The rules are pretty lax over the first few seasons and tighten until 2018. By then the expensive players we have acquired over the last 5-8 years will have gone from the books. Our spending has been low for the last few years so if you include this window, it still looks respectable. http://www.transferleague.co.uk/league-tables/2006-2011.html This table doesn't include this window but as you can see, we are pretty low down the table.
  12. Chelsea website match report says we played 4-1-2-1-2.
  13. Best game this season and a switch to 442 with Anelka playing central just behind Kalou/Drogba.
  14. Welcome David to Chelsea! @pachman40 and Henrique. The previous thread is locked so I didn't get a chance to reply although it's a bit moot now that we've signed him. The link is here (The Independent) and the text is "Benfica are demanding a further £4m to cover development fees to Luiz's former club Victoria da Bahia and commissions to the agents involved". Looks like they dropped those demands.
  15. It was in one of the english newspapers. Can't remember which one as I was flicking through all of them. One of the Independent, Guardian, Times or Telegraph.
