Deco re-injures hamstring in Chelsea win LONDON (AP) -Chelsea playmaker Deco could miss the rest of the season after limping off during the first half of Chelsea's 1-0 win over Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday. The Portugal international has missed several weeks this season with a hamstring problem, and Blues coach Guus Hiddink said the Brazilian-born forward felt the same problem about 20 minutes into his first start for Chelsea since January. "I think he will be out for a while,'' Hiddink told a news conference. "He was fit and has been working hard but got the same problem again.'' Asked whether Deco would recover before the end of the season, Hiddink said: "I have my doubts but let's see.'' Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba also hobbled off in the second half of the game but Hiddink said his injury was not serious. "I think it's not a big problem. He will recover very soon,'' Hiddink said.

TEAM NEWS: Chelsea V MANCHESTER CITY Posted on: Sun 15 Mar 2009 Guus Hiddink makes changes with Portuguese pair Ricardo Carvalho and Deco back in the starting line-up. Alex makes way in central defence and Deco is expected to play in the front three, along with Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka who is included despite missing Friday's training due to an on-going toe injury. Michael Essien is in the midfield with Michael Ballack and Frank Lampard so there is a rare rest for John Mikel Obi after 10 consecutive starts. Man City bring Wayne Bridge back in from their Uefa Cup midweek side. Other than that Mark Hughes names an unchanged side with Shaun Wright-Phillips on the left and Robinho on the right. Chelsea will line-up in a 4-3-3 formation as follows: 1 Petr Cech 17 José Bosingwa 6 Ricardo Carvalho 26 John Terry © 3 Ashley Cole 5 Michael Essien 13 Michael Ballack 8 Frank Lampard 39 Nicolas Anelka 11 Didier Drogba 20 Deco Substitutes: 40 Hilario, 35 Juliano Belletti, 33 Alex, 12 John Mikel Obi, 18 Ricardo Quaresma, 15 Florent Malouda, 21 Salomon Kalou Man City are expected to line-up in the following 4-1-4-1 formation: Given; Richards, Dunne ©, Onuoha, Bridge; Zabaleta; Robinho, Elano, Ireland, Wright-Phillips; Caicedo. Subs: Hart, Garrido, Fernandes, Evans, Berti, Etuhu, Bojinov. The referee is Mike Riley.

TEAM NEWS: JUVENTUS V Chelsea Posted on: Tue 10 Mar 2009 Michael Essien makes his first start since August on the right of a front three that includes Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka. The Ghanaian has not started for the Blues since rupturing a cruciate ligament on international duty in early September, but came through half an hour against Coventry on Saturday with no problems reported. Essien did start on the right wing against Lokomotiv Moscow in pre-season, a game in which he scored a superb left-footed volley before being withdrawn. Anelka has been passed fit after recovering from a toe injury, while Ricardo Carvalho and Deco are on the bench. Elsewhere the side is unchanged from the side that won in the Midlands at the weekend, Florent Malouda and Salomon Kalou drop to the subs' bench. Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri has opted to start with three recognised forwards in Alessandro Del Piero, David Trezeguet and Vincenzo Iaquinta, but as Chelsea fans will know, the Italian is hard to read when it comes to tactical decisions. Tiago and Pavel Nedved also start, while there is a place in defence for Czech international Zdenek Grygera. Chelsea will line-up in a 4-3-3 formation as follows: 1 Petr Cech José Bosingwa 33 Alex 26 John Terry © 3 Ashley Cole 13 Michael Ballack 12 John Mikel Obi 8 Frank Lampard 5 Michael Essien 11 Didier Drogba 39 Nicolas Anelka Substitutes: 40 Hilario, 6 Ricardo Carvalho, 42 Michael Mancienne, 35 Juliano Belletti, 15 Florent Malouda, 21 Salomon Kalou. Juventus are expected to line-up in the following 4-3-3 formation: Buffon; Mellberg, Chiellini, Grygera, Molinaro; Marchisio, Tiago, Nedved; Del Piero ©, Iaquinta, Trezeguet. Subs: Manninger, Zebina, Salihamidzic, Poulsen, Ariaudo, Amauri, Giovinco. The referee is Alberto Mallenco from Spain.

Posted on: Sat 07 Mar 2009 Ricardo Carvalho and Michael Essien return to the Chelsea bench but Guus Hiddink names an unchanged starting line-up. The FA Cup is being taken seriously with Didier Drogba again leading the attack, flanked by Salomon Kalou and Florent Malouda who continues in the absence of Nicolas Anelka. Ashley Cole retains his place and Frank Lampard equals Eddie McCreadie's Chelsea career total of 410 appearances which places him seventh equal in our all-time list. Coventry replace injured left-back Danny Fox with Marcus Hall and move Freddy Eastwood from attack to the left of midfield to make space for the return of masked man Leon Best up front. Former Crystal Palace and Birmingham striker Clinton Morrison is also back in attack having started on the bench midweek. Chelsea will line-up in a 4-3-3 formation as follows: 1 Petr Cech 17 José Bosingwa 33 Alex 26 John Terry © 3 Ashley Cole 13 Michael Ballack 12 John Mikel Obi 8 Frank Lampard 21 Salomon Kalou 11 Didier Drogba 15 Florent Malouda Substitutes: 40 Hilario, 35 Juliano Belletti, 42 Michael Mancienne, 6 Ricardo Carvalho, 5 Michael Essien, 18 Ricardo Quaresma, 9 Franco Di Santo. Coventry are expected to line-up in the following 4-4-2 formation: Westwood; Wright, Dann ©, Turner, Hall; Henderson, Gunnarsson, Doyle, Eastwood; Morrison, Best. Subs: Marshall, Ward, Osbourne, McPake, Beuzelin, Thornton, Simpson. The referee is Steve Bennett.
