Yeah, I felt at the penalty it was done unless Courtois could pull off a save. The way we were playing was suicide anyway. Having Drog on there with his attitude and quality and Remys pace and no doubt eagerness to show what he can do might have just gave us a slight glimmer of hope about pulling a point or saving face. It's easy to sit after the game and say we should have done this or that though. What we do know is that what we did do, didn't work. As you say the character and mentality isn't there to come back in a situation like that.

Absolutely. At that point we had nothing more to lose. Should have loaded the attack and just went all out. Matic and Willian for Drog and Remy.

I still can't get my head around that Drogba or Remy or both never came on, when we needed goals.

Time to end guaranteed starts for certain players. We need to be more dynamic with the team selection. Remy deserves a chance. His pace should help burst through defences rather than take them head on. Hard hat on but Costa has been underperforming recently, after a great start. He holds on to balls too long as well.

Surprised at the Willian hate. Willian's work rate alone gets him in the team. Not always easy to see on TV but watching him run around the pitch sometimes you wonder where his energy comes from. As for Schurrle, he is a good player but I don't think the 4-2-3-1 system suits his style. Probably more suited to a 4-3-3. Would be better playing him through the middle in that system. He's down on confidence too but at Chelsea you can't give someone a run in the squad to get them back up to par. It's got to be the best team, everytime.

Feels like he is trying to prove to himself more than anything with all the attempts at goal and one man band runs towards the net. On the ball he is great and it's just down to that final hurdle. His defensive game has improved too since last season where it was being called into question. Penalty miss the other night was down to tiredness IMO too. He looked spent when he was just about to take it.

Stake was £141 (strange number but was funds left from another bet) at odds of 2.25. Returns should have been £320 but got nervous (bottled it ) and cashed out early for £279 once the 5 minutes added time was announced. I learned the hard way as I let my bets on both Manchester games run to the end and ultimately lost out .
