I would have taken a point before the game started but seeing how poor and tired Spurs were i think we could have gotten more out of that game. Our attacking build up was poor like it has been all year, we just can't seem to string a few decisive passes together in the final third it seems First time in a long time that our defence look solid and never seemed like we were conceding so that's a positive And the most striking thing i noticed was the fact that Hazard won more headers today when the ball was played long than Costa has all year
-
no impetous all game and that against a team who should be more tired than us
-
Poor from Matic, he is tracking the run and then lets Mason get away from him
-
remember guys and girls, ivanovic is there for his aerial presence
-
wtf, how do you miss that?
-
wtf is wrong with Matic, can you imagine him getting brushed aside like that last season?
-
tbf to Costa, Torres would have messed that up horribly
-
I noticed this as well, no protection from Matic (don't know what he is doing this match to help us to be fair) coupled with the fact that our defenders like to back off than to actually do their job and try to avoid danger (only Terry was somewhat decent)
-
exactly, we are finally getting some ball into the box and falcao lives on those so i wouldnt mind giving him a shot today
-
What kind of substitutions are that????????
-
Maybe it's time we stop laying the blame for our defensive problems with our midfielders and just start to realize that our defenders are just shit
-
Yes that sounds exactly like Mourinho, must be why Iva never gets dropped
-
Thank you for clearing that out. I can't believe people on here try to bring this old shit up again when you should know by now it was mistranslated so the papers could get a juicy headliin
-
Hate to say i told you so, but this was just to easy to predict. We just cant set up any decent attack. Mou is too concerned about not giving anything away defensively that he plays square pegs in round holes and it will ultimately be his downfall
-
well, you definetly didn't watch the entire game then. He was playing very good, dribbling and cutting through their midfield. Only in the second half of extra time did he become sloppy and lost a lot of balls but that was mainly due to him fatiguing a bit imo.

I think the liverpool game will be his last game. It will be an absolute nightmare of a game for us. If there is one thing we do not cope well with, it is pressing and that's exactly what klopp likes to do and losing against a direct top 4 rival at home will be too much after all that has happened. I wouldn't mind keeping Jose till the end of the season if he could ensure top 4 at least but that seems so far away and there are zero signs of improvement

We do alot of running/dribbling in front of the defense but nobody actually ever looks to pass/dribble/run beyond the defense. There were numerous times today were it was so obvious our midfielders were just passing/dribbling between themselves and Costa was just standing there with the CB's watching this training session happen in front of their eyes. There is a serious misunderstanding among a lot of our players of how to exactly create chanches and score goals. And Mourinho is so devoid of giving anything away defensively, that he has completly eliminated the risk element needed to be a dangerous team. And players like Hazard/Willian have been nurtured by him in their bad habits of messing too much around in front in midfield only to pass the ball backwards and start all over again
-
LOL, that was the saddest thing ever. The got only Andy Fecking Caroll pressing us and instead of passing it around him we give it back to begovic who hoofs it up the field lmao
-
It started the second half of last season to be honest and was already in full flow the last couple of games and nothing has been done
-
Exaxctly, doesn't everyone know by now that Mou only deserves credit when we win things, when we fall apart it's not his fault you guys
-
We need to bring in some people with end product. That is why i think it was a massive mistake to sell Schurlle when we did. For all of his shortcommings he was always a goal threat. Right now we have two consistent goal threats, but Hazard's end product isn't the best and he should be making more runs off the ball into the box and Costa relies on good service which he isn't getting. And then we have Willian, who's end product is non existent (at least he is been training on his free kicks), Cesc who has been missing for too long now and Oscar who is just too inconsistent I still have hope for Pedro once we get our act together but so far he is finding it tough as well
-
Yes, it was an impossible situation with 6 AM's and KdB as a 21 year old behind our POTS, two new acquisitions and his beloved Oscar was always gonna be last in the pecking order. So i agree you can't blame Mou for selling him (and btw there were plenty of people against it). But the one thing you can blame him for is bringing him back from loan into such an impossible situations in a world cup year were he had to play because he was an important part of the national team. We should have just extended his loan for a couple of seasons and he would now be shining for Chelsea
-
Hit the nail on the head, we just don't know how to attack. There was one free kick we got in our own half after Hazard was fouled and we kicked a hopeless ball straight to an isolated Costa up top. Well, that just summed up our play perfectly.

Am i imagining things or is the guy on BT sport calling Begovic Courtois all the time
-
Most managers don't need to drop one of their best attacking players to regain defensive stability. If you're central defenders have trouble defending, why not switch them out? With singling him out i mean the fact that he chose to leave exactly one player out because of his supposed poor defensive contribution namely Hazard, who isn't even doing a bad job defensively. I also find it funny that Mou's comments arent obviously stupid while predro is supposed to obviously be better defending wise. He maybe has a bigger engine to run more but i remember on MNF in their analysis against everton for one of the goals Pedro stayed to far upfield, too concerned with his fullback that he left a huge gap in midfield which resulted in the goal. All in all, even if Pedro is marginally better in defending I find it a very thin excuse to drop Eden for that reason (like we can't keep a clean sheet with him in the team) while others are not. And yet again, instead of focussing on making our team better in possession (so that we don't have to defend as much). Mou goes down the only road he knows (which is organization when we don't have the ball) and I don't agree with that. That's the last thing i'll say on the matter.
