QUESTION ABOUT ADS

I see there is a new type of ads in the site.
I understand Chelsea forum needs the income from the ads.
I wish I could do the same.

Now the question is this:
Suppose the ad is "Amsterdam erotica - sex show".
It appears infront of me.
I hit the x button it's gone - I don't even notice it and we now that the theory of subliminal cuts has been proved a hoax.
So for the freakin' life of me I never understood what people like the "Amsterdam erotica - sex show" are getting out of it.
If sites dedicated the right hand panel to display ads in stable form would n't that be better for everybody ?
