Cat On Valium

Saw this on another forum and thought I'd post it here:

OK...you may be joking, but I have real live story to tell. My cat, Misty, is epileptic. Last year, my roommate and I went to the beach for a week. Her family has a house and we can stay for free. I love free. Anyway...we decided to take our cats with us because Misty has to be dosed with phenobarbitol twice a day to prevent seizures. When we asked the vet if there was a way to sedate her to make the 4 hour road trip, she gave us Valium...

OMG! Have you ever seen a cat stoned on Valium? She never slept. She just stumbled around, wide eyed and happy. At one point, she was in my roommates room, sitting on the dresser, howling at the top of her little lungs. All you had to do was say her name and she would stop...for 5 minutes. Then she would start up again. She prowled around the house all night, wallowed on the floor, crawled in bed with each of us and rolled around on top of us. She would purr and drool and stare vacantly at us for ten minutes, make sure we were really uncomfortable, then she would climb on our laps and smack at our faces to see if we were real. This went on for two days...on one little Valium pill. It was the funniest damn thing I've ever seen.

Thats funny :D

Got a cat myself, recently took it to the vet and may have to get him put down. He's only 3, but may have cat leukemia or cat aids. He's been on meds for about 4 weeks now and I'm waiting on blood tests coming back before we see what happens next. This will be the second test result, the first ones were inconclusive.

Dunno if thats a good thing or not.

Aww sorry to hear that tri and only 3.

I have 3 cats if you want one lol

Thanks but no thanks. If he goes I'm not getting another. You get too attached to them.

He's a smart wee bugger too. I've got him to sit and give me his paw, and I play fetch with him in the garden too........Maybe I should have got a dog :P

Good news.....I took Jasper up to the vets today and they said everything was fine.....he just had some inflamation of the gums and will need some teeth out and then a bit of a clean up job and that'll be him sorted.

Booked him in to get his nuts chopped off too. May as well get everything done in one go :P
