Theres not been 1 good film made about the scene. Theyre all namby pamby made up,watered down shite just to make a few quid, And what makes it worse is theres a couple of really great Djs used as advisers on them. None of the 'dancers' in the clubs are soulies theyre all professionals. I want to see a film abourt what the likes of me got up to lol Ive hated all the media attention the scenes ever got. Going back to 75 with Wigans soddin ovation and Footsee on TOTP. The following weeks the place was full of dibby twats come to warch the floorshow all woindering where the all night bar was and wondering WTF everyone was walking round with eyes like saucers lol But Russ Winstanley and the manager of the Casino were breadheads that were just r a quick buck so they crammed 3000 into the polace with a 1100 fire limit. And making illegal pressings of dead rare stuff selling them for a quid each.. Geezer still pisses me off and everyone else. Bur fims basically bout this Billy no mates kid discovering Northern and going on to win the girl and dancing comp. Really deep.

Iggy Doonican 4,186
This prick almost single handedly ruined a classic film with his wooden acting and fucking atrocious dancing.

I got no idea why he was used in it unless purely gor his looks. He learned his moves from the Woodentops.

And its a good track and pivital part of the ending. Meeting our idols can sometimes be a letdown when we put them on a pedestal

I like your stories UJ - enough there for a book of sorts, and enough pharmacuticals for a chemists shop. 1976 I was just waking up to the punk scene, ditching the rounded collared shirts and lionels... Could never understand some of the punk scene. All the spitting was crazy. But all cliques have their own thing. Saw the Pistols when they were first starting cause a few Chels lads did some of the door work at their gigs
Iggy Doonican 4,186
I was 13 when Quadrophenia came out and it just goes to show how a film back then could influence young people to start a mod revival. Cinema has always more so then then now (I could be wrong) influenced the young Rebel Without A Cause in the 50's for example. I remember reading a quote where this young guy saw a Clockwork Orange came out of the cinema and had an overwhelming desire to kick the shit out of someone. But back in 79 just think of all the fashions you had then Punks, Skins, Rude Boys, Mods, Teds, Soul Boys, rockers not bikers but usually Motorhead soap dodgers, rastas and the casual movement was starting although that really got big in 81-82. Spot on Iggy. All those bands Secret Affair etc started after Quadrophenia. Watched it again after you posted the clip of Sting, - it almost feels like a documentary, even though theres a lot of shit acting. Also in 1979 as you said you had all those 'tribes' with their respective music, (was out every night, ), including Rockabilly. It was great to be a teen. Never be repeated...
