Well theSpanish dont seem to be budging, could this be the start of something bigger like in the Arab countries ? I notice our media is playing it down

Unemployment for young people very high, and theyre basically just fed up with the lack of opportunities. They've also set up 'tent cities' in London, Bristol, Brighton...

Spanish have been at it for a while.. Very played down as you've said. All the PIIGS nations are having quite a few protests lately but mainstream media is keeping it very simplified.

Let's hope it's the start of a new wave. With the story about food prices doubling by 2030 there will be a lot of unrest in coming years.

The police battered the people in Barcelona on Champions League night and cleared the square, but they came back the next day

There is quite a bit of apathy in the UK by people, no collectivity Govt has made a good job at making people individual units of consumption -

You'd think young people would start to kick off soon though l;ike the Spanish -We now have no EMA, £9000 Fees for Uni yet....

The posh school Eton gets charity status and therefore £30 million of our tax money to 'educate' the toffs where Cameron, Osborne etc went, in such things as 'Dressage' and 'Pheasant Shooting'. :rant:

Unfortunately the first EMA protest didn't gather much momentum. I'd imagine another will be planned soon, there's a real flaw in this system. When those d*ckheads in Parliament sit on their fat arses all day, with their free university education, taking away our chances more and more. We will get more and more frustrated.

One thing I was glad about the original was that they targeted banks and such to break down the windows and all. Shows their attacks were planned & were not a simple act of hooliganism but an attempt to hold those responsible, accountable.

Agree with that -went on the 'March for the Alternative' last month, 500 000 people walking to Hyde park to hear some moribund dinosaur speeches...OR.. attack the symbols of our misery, blatantly flaunting their wealth in the West End. Funnily enough the march in Hyde Park got hardly any coverage , it was all about Fortnum and Mason, HSBC, and the Ritz getting a few windows smashed. History shows the powers that be dont take the slightest bit of notice if people forlornly march from A to B eg 1 000 000 pople marching against the Iraq war, totally ignored

It's an idealistic dream to see a revolution break out in Trafalgar Square. Make our own Tahrir Square perhaps, the centre of revolution, where those in power will give it back to the people. Then be tried for crimes against humanity.

I've found on US news sites that the Spanish demonstrations are continuing and growing. There are also 1000 people gathering in Paris in support.

But the BBC and European media steadfastly refusing to cover it. Funny that.

Doesn't surprise me in the slightest. I laugh at people who claim BBC is impartial, they most certainly aren't (that being said, I listen to World Service sometimes, they cover some good stories)

I hope it grows further though, then BBC will have no choice BUT to report it.

Its amazing when you actually look at who in the media was at Oxford/Cambridge with them all sat in Parliament. newspaper publishers/columnists, politicians, CEOs of companies, TV Executives -they all know each other. No surprise they all work to an agenda to protect their kind.

eg found out the other day David Dimbleby (Question Time) was in the Bullingdon Club -The Oxford gang that included Cameron, Osborne, Boris Johnson etc that smashed up restaurants -a ''jolly hoot'' (Criminal damage if you or I did it though).

No way?! That's mental. I though Dimbleby was the only sane one at the BBC. Wow.

Yup and with some of those theyre not even allowed to say there is a super injunction, let alone what it was about.!

Changing tack, (you mentioned Palestine) -I saw that on the anniversary of that Turkish ship getting attacked by the Iraelis, there will be 15 ships sailing to Gaza with aid next month -could be lively !
