Just one serious question. Are the recent shitstorms part of the afterpains following the off-season and actually happens every year or is this an unsual situation we find ourselves in? This is a about changing the MOTM-format ffs, and yet it turned into another war which has nothing to do with the thread itself. A few of you will probably not know me, I'm a pub member (and to some degree the graphics forum). I do however read A LOT of threads in the football-related threads, but I mostly refrain from posting there because other members are more capable of bringing my opinion. And for me to make a serious post also takes a lot of time because of my English, when I try to write something I want it to be correct (even though this post is probably full of little errors). What I see in those football threads is the same thing I see in almost every thread. Arguments that can't be solved in an adult manner, people flinging their shit all over the place acting like their opinions are facts. I don't have any problems with the occasional (well-placed and not just random) gif/meme being thrown around in the more serious threads. However they should be kept at a minimum, so it doesn't become a pain to scroll through the page. But if I may say so, I'm much more bothered by the many insults in a lot of threads than by the gif/memes. Yes, discussing topics is the purpose of forums in general and can only be encouraged, but discussing things can also happen without insults and trolling. Since I only joined in late december (I think) I have no idea how the forum was a few years ago, if it was better or not. But if you think the quality of posts was a lot higher back then, you should try to make quality posts again. Don't let a few meaningless posts stop you. There are a lot of quality members out there who I look up to, they don't refrain from posting quality stuff just because of a stupid gif. Man up! It's not because you don't like something nobody does. And finally ON TOPIC: I don't really care about how the MOTM-award is organised. People who win it deserve it in my opinion, else they wouldn't even be nominated. I'm inclined to vote for staffmembers choosing the nominees, but I have the feeling that might result in another shitstorm this time resulted at the staff. Because there might be members who disagree with the staff' choice and will start acting like it's a freaking dictatorship over here. Maybe it'd be best to just get rid of the MOTM-award or keep it like it is now (with or without the winners can't win anymore thing).
